About a month ago (more? less? The days all blur together) I read the last Upside Down Magic book. No, wait! It was just the MOST RECENT. I kind of thought book eight might be the end, since it would give every kid some time in the narration spotlight. But no, they've only made it halfway through fifth grade. And at the end of this book Ms. Starr says they'll be getting a new student in the new semester.
Sometime soon-ish, I would like to watch the movie again. Both versions of the story are excellent fun, but the movie makes so many changes that you wonder why the studio didn't get a new title, change the last few un-changed things, and just make a whole other movie without bothering to pay the authors. Of course that would be horrible, but my point is just that they could, since the movie and the books it's "based on" are so dang different.
Finally getting into some of Disney's Twisted Tales! Part of Your World was such fun that I immediately ordered Straight On Till Morning, but so far I haven't even pretended to start it. Maybe i should order a third one, and/or something from my "books to buy whenever" list?
One thing I've been thinking about re-reading "sometime soon" for at least a year is Catherine, Called Birdy by Karen Cushman. Finally did, and it's even better than I remembered. Well, okay, it would almost have to be, since the last time I read it was at least a decade ago, and my memory is good but not that good.
I need to start getting serious about completing my Animorphs collection! At this point I just need Megamorphs 2, Megamorphs 4, The Hork-Bajir Chronicles, Visser, The Ellimist Chronicles; and numbers 31, 40, 41, 44, and 46-54. It would be fantastic if I could get my claws on all of them before my birthday, since I started re-collecting them as a gift for my last birthday and it would be nice to finally start reading without ever having to worry about slowing down before catching up with something I still need to purchase.
MOVIES
Obviously I am ob-sessed with Black Widow right now. Obviously obsessed, yes, that is me and the one movie I really care about until further notice.
But I have also enjoyed the Fear Street trilogy, and I honestly am planning to watch Gunpowder Milkshake in the next week or less. Other than that, though? Not much to talk about at the moment.
