My Weekend started a little less than an hour ago, so here is a quick recap of the last week or so.

On Wednesday, aka My Thursday, I somehow managed to more or less keep up with everything for all of dinner . . . but then the post-dinner dishes piled up, and there were so goddamn fucking many of them (in the big sink, on the counter right next to the big sink, and of course the actual dishpit was never-ending overwhelming chaos) that I really truly did not know if I would ever make it out of there, and
I snapped at Mike. Which I knew was unreasonable, so I concluded my rant by saying, "I'm sorry, I know this isn't your fault or anything you have the power to change." He was very kind about it.
But then later I had a tiny breakdown while venting to Colleen (note: the fact that I'm initiating contact with her at all is a huge deal), who assured me that she is on my side and that people know we don't have enough dishwashers. She also said she would mention how badly we need at least one more to someone specific in corporate. And she gave me permission to call out the next day.

So that's what I did. My Friday is actually the only day of the week when it is considerate to call out, since I am not scheduled for a normal dishwashing shift: I deep-clean all of the floors and maybe do some other cleaning tasks. And I usually offer to help Alex get out faster, but I technically do not "have to" do any dishwashing on these nights. MEANING that I can call out without getting anyone else called in.
Giving myself a three-day weekend is honestly just a bonus.

I think I slept for most of My Friday. At some point the WiFi disappeared, and it stayed gone for the rest of the weekend, so I had to rely on downloads. This meant I finally made time for a second viewing of KPop Demon Hunters (which is so good that I was sobbing for most of it), and also watched Mean Girls 2024.

Obviously I was apprehensive about returning to work. When I did, I found a sign taped to the machine. Apparently, it's broken. Washing everything by hand really ruined my day, but when the PM cooks started showing up Jeremy helped me find a simple solution, so for the last hour of my shift the machine worked perfectly.

On My Tuesday, three men from EcoLab showed up to fix the machine for real. (They technically own it, so our own maintenance people aren't allowed to work on it.) They just walked up behind me and started working on it without greeting me or acknowledging my presence in any way. I had no idea they were right behind me until I turned around. THEREFORE, I was really fucking pissed when they told me they would need to work on it for about thirty minutes but then what actually happened was they worked on it for more like three hours, so once again for most of my shift I had to wash every goddamn dish by hand, and unlike yesterday none of the cooks were able to help speed up the process.
But they did fix it for real, and from now on it shall work perfectly; and I shall place a hex upon anyone foolish enough to even look at it funny.

My Wednesday is the first of my two consecutive dinner shifts, which have been extra stressful lately because it's always a struggle to keep up with everything because we just have so goddamn fucking many dishes, and I still only have four arms.
However! Jeremy was there! To help out because the owner was dining with us! Chef did show up for a while, but he was too focused to even talk to me.
So it may have been a very stressful evening for the cooks and everyone in FOH, but for me it was a surprisingly peaceful night.
I was there pretty late, but that is what it is for dinner shifts.

On My Thursday, back to normal: Chef was there.
I think I clocked out a few minutes before 1:00, which is pretty great.

And then today, My Friday, is the deep cleaning shift. But it now starts three hours later, per my request (I sent Chef an email, which he did not respond to or acknowledge in any way --- but he did change the schedule!), so by the time I had two rooms of floor left I told Alex, "If you're ready to get out of here, I can wrap this up" and at first he turned me down because he could use the overtime, but after a few minutes he asked if the offer was till good and I said yes, of course, please get out of here, tonight is the one night of the week I can do this for you.
Which did mean that I was there thirty-eight minutes late, but it was so worth it.
I never actually said this, but tonight was very good.

And now it is My Weekend.
I had an edible a while ago, right after getting home I had a nice hot shower, and then I started my laundry.

This weekend I will pick up some pakidges, but I also want to watch more than one movie.
