Monday Fun
Jul. 4th, 2023 12:27 amIt is fortunate that I still have so many library comics to choose from, even after returning eight, because today was full of minor annoyances and at least two people who really pissed me off. The first was this guy sitting outside the Mexican restaurant listening to music WITHOUT headphones and WITH a speaker. I admit that listening to anything without headphones in a public space is something that really really really annoys me, but adding the speaker is extra rude. I approached him and started by asking, "Do you have headphones?" He didn't, but did immediately turn it down a notch or two, but didn't really care about the nice warning I tried to give him. He was gone when I checked again fifteen minutes later, which is good, because I was seriously so annoyed that I wanted to slash his tires or pour water on his speaker or steal his bike or something. People are extra annoying when it's this hot outside.
WHICH BRINGS ME TO this whole situation. I was tossing some paper towels in the recyclable dumpster outside Postal Annex when I noticed that a truck parked in one of the spots over there kept honking its horn every five seconds or so . . . because some stupid fucking idiot was just sitting there in her car, between the truck and the alley, either unaware or just uncaring that she was blocking his path. I decided to help out and try to get through to her, so I walked over. I did not tap on the door or wave or do anything to get her attention, so maybe she did hear the honking, but for the rest of her interaction with me she never really made it clear that she was actually aware that the truck was there.
Anyway, she rolled down her window and asked, "What do you want?"
"Are you coming or going?" I pointed to the truck. "You're blocking him in."
I don't remember precisely what she said, but it was something about FedEx. She had to call them to complain that one of their trucks had almost hit her. (They do make deliveries to Postal Annex every day, and sometimes they back into the alley; while I am inclined to doubt that a truck actually almost hit her, she was in the correct vicinity.) (Although, if any other vehicle really did almost hit her, I have to ask: Is it because she was just sitting there instead of fucking driving?!) She also asked if I'm Security and claimed that she does the same sort of work, but she runs her own business.
WHAT does any of this have to do with anything? The only fucking reason I said anything to you, the only fucking reason the truck has been honking at you, is that you are PARKED in the STREET. I mean, the alley is not like an actual street, but she was just sitting there, neither accelerating nor reversing nor making any sort of movement at all, mere feet away from multiple actual parking spaces.
The guy in the truck, by the way, is the manager or owner or whatever (I don't know, he's never said anything interesting to me) of Postal Annex. Who, in response to all the crazy that poured out of this woman's mouth, decided to APOLOGIZE TO HER, which is fucking hilarious, because he could have gotten out of his stupid truck and tried to reason with her his own damn self or pulled up behind her and gotten even more obnoxious with his horn or done anything other than the incessant honking that obviously wasn't fucking working.
But no, he fucking apologized to the crazy rude idiot and thanked me and drove away.
THEN. Even fucking though she had been sitting there with her car FACING the alley, which any rational driver would guess meant she intended to drive into the alley, what she actually did was turn around to drive into the main parking lot. I stuck around to make sure she wasn't going to do anything even crazier, so once she got her car turned all the way around I was kind of sort of in her path . . . so she gestured for me to get out of her way, and SHE IS FUCKING LUCKY that I did not say, "Oh, so it's only okay when YOU block OTHER PEOPLE from driving?"
And then slash all four of her tires.
She's fucking lucky.
In general I'm not a fan of living in a police state, but sometimes I do wish there was an app that would let me take photos of people who park like assholes and anonymously submit them. And then, when the police get the photos, they can do two things: One, confirm that this is something they can fine the asshole for. Two, use the license plate to find their address and send them a copy of the photo . . . and a ticket that they have to pay if they want to keep their license! Quadruple the fine if they do the exact same thing ever again!
Because seriously, it is SO easy to be a decent human being. People who choose to go out of their way to be jerks deserve punishment. I do not get paid enough for this nonsense.
