Some of My Favorite Things: Books

My love for this series is so vast that words cannot convey it, but let's start with the premise: Earth is secretly being invaded by the Yeerks, a bunch of alien slugs that crawl into your ear, get settled inside your actual brain, and completely take over your body. Their goal is to turn all humans into hosts, and eventually rule the entire galaxy. And the only people who know they're here are six teenagers who can turn into animals.
That is fried gold.

I am not fully convinced that I want to read all fifteen books again starting any time soon-ish, but I am definitely feeling some sort of itch. Obviously there were some storylines that I loved less than others, but approximately ninety-two percent of the witchcraft in this series was actually "realistic," and for that reason alone it has a very special place in my heart. Even though I was only able to read like three or four books when I was in high school and would have appreciated them the most.
Despite feeling that the ending is pretty close to perfect, I still wish they had published a follow-up miniseries. It could have started with the girls' high school graduation and ended on their first day of college. Or whatever, that's just an example. I would have read anything else that got written and published, because I just love the characters that much.
