Gratitude

Okay, so, I am really trying to avoid thinking things such as "Frankie brought me here to die because she secretly hates me and actually wants me to commit suicide" or "If I have to hear Frankie complain about not knowing what to wear one more time I'm going to wait until she falls asleep and then walk outside naked and just fucking freeze to death to get away from her" or "We never should have left Coupeville" or "WHY did they tell us to arrive on the nineteenth and start work on the twentieth, but then wait until we did in fact arrive on the nineteenth to inform us that we actually won't be able to start work until the fourth? Seriously, who does that???"

. . . Well, actually, I am only trying  to avoid the first two of those thoughts, since the last two are both one thousand percent valid.

But the point is, I am really TRYING to focus on the few things I can be grateful for in the midst of this absolute shituation, such as:
  • Obviously, the mountains are fucking breathtaking and I am truly grateful to get to see them every day.
  • When we do finally start work, the hotel is literally a few steps away from our door.
  • Since this horrible housing is almost free, we will be able to easily save lots of money and use it to get the fuck out of this place as soon as the season ends.
  • At least we have a mini fridge and microwave in our room.
  • The bathrooms may be shared with our neighbors, but they are single-occupancy, and the locks have highly visible occupied/vacant indicators.
  • The Wi-Fi is . . . mostly . . . reliable. It went out for several hours on Saturday, but other than that it's been fantastic. So far.
  • When the internet disappears, at least we have a basic teevee.
  • In addition to multiple restaurants, we are a short walk away from a grocery store and a DISPENSARY. Haven't been inside yet since we're pretty dang broke right now, but knowing that it's there makes the prospect of surviving the season feel much less bleak.
