Happy Stuffs
Jan. 29th, 2024 12:22 amMean Girls! Frankie wanted to see The Color Purple on her birthday, but it wasn't playing at the one theater in Bozeman, so we saw this instead! Much to my delight, of course. I was and still am disappointed that so many songs were cut. But they did keep my favorite song, "I'd Rather Be Me," and Auli'i Cravalho absolutely crushed it. Not that I'm surprised, but she really did. The entire cast did a great job. Especially Auli'i as Janis, Jaquel Spivey as Damian, Avantika as Karen, and Renee Rapp as Regina. Although that last one was an epic "duh," since I've been in love with her since 2019, when she became the second person to play Regina on Broadway. I'm kind of obsessed with her right now. She wrote and performed a credits song (with Megan Thee Stallion, who has two cameos in the movie) which includes the line "can a gay girl get an amen" and, yep, even though I've loved her for years, today was the day I learned that Renee Rapp is queer, so obviously now I love her even more!
Circle of Three! I finished the final book a few days ago, and I love this series so much that I can't help but wish there was MORE OF IT. Yes, obviously it makes sense to wrap up the story after the girls complete their year and a day of study and literally end it with their initiation into a coven. BUT STILL. That was only April of their junior year! I would have gladly read another fifteen books! Or a spin-off about Sasha (with occasional spotlights on Jane, Becka, Tara, and Jessica), or literally anything. Le sigh.
Derry Girls! Frankie and I watched two separate episodes (102 and 204) a week or so ago, and more recently we watched the first three episodes (yes, we watched 102 twice - it is one of our favorites). I'm hoping we will watch more this weekend, which for us will be Tuesday and Wednesday, because if we don't I might watch the rest of the series without her.
Witchcraft! That's all I'm saying about that at this time.
