A few days ago, Frankie and I moved to the dorm next door. It was mostly her idea. She wanted one of the XL rooms (each building only has one or maybe two of them). I probably wouldn't have moved, but of course I would prefer to live in the same building as my sister, so I did. And I am quite glad! My room is pretty much exactly the same (although the art on the walls is way less awful), but somehow the bed is much more comfortable. I'm not moving again unless they make me. That's how comfortable this bed is. I might not need a mattress topper after all.

We knew it was going to happen around the end of April, and indeed, Mandatory Vacation Time is finally ending in a few short precious days. Frankie goes back to work Monday morning, and my first day will be Tuesday at 10:00 AM. We confirmed this today in a meeting with Tory (the Culinary Director, who hired us and saved us from Hell) and Jenn. One thing they mentioned was that there will be a shuttle from Staff Housing to Town, multiple times a day. This almost sounds too good to be true. Hooves Fucking Crossed that it actually is true. If it's not, I'm going to ask if I can ride a bike to and from work. Frankie wants to go back to working mornings, and I once again requested to close all the time, so it would be great if she didn't have to wait up to drive to work just to pick me up before going to bed.

Summer is supposed to last five or possibly six months. We're both going to save at least $1,000 a month, but it's actually feasible that we might be able to save more like $1,500 a month. If we do actually manage it, in five months that would be $7,000 each. I am beyond excited to figure out how we might spend the off season with that kind of money.

I guess it's kind of weird for me to say "the off season." We haven't been hired past summer, of course, it's way too early. But I am already kind of hoping we will be. It isn't easy for me to find or keep a job I actually like, and I actually like this one. A lot. Frankie does too. Coming back for winter, and then next summer as well, just makes sense. We could easily save so much money, and whenever we do eventually leave we will have much more culinary experience.

So, yeah. I am excited to return to work, but I am also impatient to get through the season so Frankie and I can spend two weeks in Seattle and then two and a half weeks in a beach town. For example. My point is, we are going to spend the next five or six months discussing our next vacation A LOT.
