More New Room Rambles
Aug. 13th, 2025 09:21 amI suppose any employee housing is going to have its own pluses & minuses. For example, just as a default, no matter where you live, the biggest plus is that it's basically free to live here, and the biggest minus is that your room might not be super nice.
Other than the lack of Ben OR any other roommate, my new place's biggest perk is that it's so close to work. I haven't literally timed it, but I'm guessing that walking from my door to the kitchen will take about fifteen minutes.
The biggest drawback is that I am now much farther away from the EDR, post office, general store, and ice cream parlor. If I ever want to go to any of these places, I have to rely on the shuttle or walk approximately forty minutes. This is somewhat annoying for obvious reasons, but eventually I will get a microwave and a mini fridge and lots of snacks & drinks, so I won't "need" the EDR quite as badly as I do right now. (Plus, I keep forgetting, I have to confirm that I'm allowed to buy food from The Inn when I'm not working!)
In my last post I said this wasn't a top priority, and I suppose it still really isn't, but some time sooner than later I really need a comfy chair and a table for watching stuff. I might need to move the other bed for the chair to fit, which is fine. Fairly certain that living in this building means they won't give me a new roommate any time soon (although, you know, fucking knock on fucking wood).
I also need quite a few new towels, and some small snap-together shelves to store them.
I guess I don't really have anything super profound to say about it, but I do like my new room a lot. It needs a lot of stuff, but eventually I am going to be very very comfortable here.
