 So.

When I went to HR on Monday to request a new room, they pretty much immediately made a plan to check out the room I'm in right now, confirm that it was clean & livable, pick me up to move my stuff ASAP (they would have let me do it that day, but I didn't want to be stress-packing, so I requested to move the next day, which as of this writing was yesterday).

But when I mentioned the "recently switched to the Overnight Kitchen Steward job" part of the story, HR said they had no idea about this development. Clearly not my fault in any way, but somebody higher up in my department had fucked up by failing to inform HR.

They scheduled an interview for this afternoon just to officially make it official. This was painless, and I was free to go in maybe five minutes, but the reason for writing this post is:

HR said I'm going to be moving again soon. Into The Annex.

Inhale, exhale. Inhale, exhale. Inhale, exhale.

Okay, to be perfectly candid, this is not a huge surprise. In fact, when I requested a new room, I kind of figured they would send me to The Annex. I know that The Ranch does have single rooms, but I was not particularly hopeful that one would be available for me. Because that would be too easy, n'est pas? I was surprised when HR sent me to The Gulch, since these rooms are doubles.

I've never seen the inside of The Annex, but it has a few (I think, at the most, maybe twenty units?) studios. With shared bathrooms. Which is completely fine with me. That description also sums up my beloved apartment in El Cajon --- but unlike that place, I will technically be getting paid to live in The Annex!

Obviously, it is just a tiny bit frustrating, since I was having so many Ideas about Things to Buy to make this place feel as homey as possible. Most of those Ideas will probably apply in the studio, but I won't know for sure until I move in, will I?

It's also just a tiny bit frustrating because I really fucking hate moving.

It's also just a tiny bit frustrating because HR didn't really give me a specific time frame. They're going to email me about the logistics, but if I'm remembering the conversation correctly, this move might happen as soon as tomorrow or as late as a month from now. HR did stress the importance of giving me my own room since I'll be an overnighter, and of course I am fucking thrilled that I will be able to move in and settle in and officially not have to worry about ever getting another roommate (I have kind of wanted to move into The Annex for a while, specifically for this reason), but it's going to be difficult to get settled until I do move in, siiiiiiiggghh---

In less ambiguously happy news, after the interview I walked to the Zen garden and ate the weed brownie I  had been saving to reward myself for getting through the interview.

And then I read the first two issues of Captain Marvel: The Saga of Monica Rambeau. The second of which was clearly only included in this collection because, well, Monica DOES officially join the Avengers, and that IS a big deal . . . but it's over in the first few pages, and then the rest of the the issue is about Janet and mostly Hank. That's Hank Pym, not Hank McCoy, unfortunately. I still enjoyed the story, but I'm just saying, of the two Science Hanks who were Avengers around this time, I know which one I prefer - and it's not even close.

Anyway, I look forward to reading more of this collection and actually seeing more of Monica!

It's almost 7:00 PM. I had dinner earlier, so I am in for the rest of the night. I think I'm going to eat another weed baked good and then read/watch stuff until I pass out.
