Taking Stock and Whatnot
May. 15th, 2026 07:05 pmLast night, after clocking out to start My Weekend and then walking home, one of the very first things I did was open one of these Miniso MLP blind boxes.
Before this pakidge even arrived, I had a feeling I was probably going to get Pinkie Pie.
When I opened the box, I was thrilled and delighted to find . . . Pinkie Pie!
These figures have clearly visible joint lines which might make you think they are posable. This is misleading. Pinkie's only bit of articulation is in her neck. (Rainbow and Twilight's wings might be posable? I'm pretty sure Fluttershy's are not.)
On the one hoof, these things are stupidly overpriced; on the other, I AM *really* happy with Pinkie, soooo maybe I will try to buy more of them? Right now my most wanted are Applejack, because they did not forget her hat; and Rarity, because they emphasized the blue in her hair rather than the purple.
So I am definitely not allowed to spend any more money on these things right now, but maybe I will later. Maybe.
. . . And these also make me want to track down at least one of the old Funko vinyl figure statues. Ah, 2012. Heh.
For the most part I have been very good about limiting my spending, but have treated myself to two eBay purchases, one of which is my second Cutie Mark Crew set of five.
Eventually, I will buy a lot more of these.
It's very surreal that The Boys is almost over.
To make it even more surreal, the only other teevee I'm watching right now is Abbott Elementary. Because I contain multitudes, goddammit.
Sometime very soon I'll order the final two volumes of FABLES, and then Lori and I can officially start re-reading them!
But I need to sit down and think about all of the spin-offs. Some of them I might want to buy in Kindle form, instead of buying another forty-something trades or whatever. (I know it isn't actually quite that many, but it is a lot more comics.)
I'm still waiting for the all-important shower curtain (and bath mats) to arrive, but I have been making some Mermaid Bathroom purchases, and that is very fun.
