Probably.
But I have started Black Panther. Can I finish it? We shall see . . .
Sometime soon I would like to watch Wakanda Forever again. This would only be my second or third time. I clearly remember seeing it in a theater, but not sure if I ever watched it at home. Either way, I have it downloaded now and would like to e
A few days ago, he mentioned that he might be leaving one day early --- and ever since then, I have been obsessively hoping-hoping-hoping that he would in fact do that, because if he did my more-than-a-week of having our room to myself would begin on My Sunday instead of My Monday . . .
As it turns out, he fucking did! Today is My Sunday, and he left around 9:00 AM, if not before??!!!!!!!!!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!
I'm typing this at 12:20 PM. So far, I have done three main tasks since Ben left:
1. Masturbate
2. Take a very nice shower
3. Complete a task that has been bugging me for the last few days: Get my closet as organized as it can be for now. This only took twenty or thirty minutes, and it felt so fucking satisfying, oh my holy what nowwwww
For some reason I woke up really early, so I did laundry really early. Pretty sure I finished it before Ben left?
I suppose I might go ahead and devote a little more time to organizing the top & middle drawers of my dresser (the bottom drawer is fully broken, but the chances of getting it fixed or replaced are pretty much less than zero unless the entire dresser crumbles to dust, and even then I wouldn't hold my breath for a replacement . . .), but other than that my only plans for the rest of the day involve getting stoned and watching
a) Doctor Who
b) something other than Doctor Who?
c) perhaps a movie?
I will also walk to the post office and back if my phone says any pakidges have been delivered. I currently have several boxes of snacks on their way to my PO Box. I also got about as many perishable foods as my tiny fridge can hold when Joey took me to Walmart yesterday, so I should be fully stocked to literally never leave the room except for work, if I want to. I don't think I will literally do that, but obviously I am planning to celebrate this very welcome alone time by going into hermit mode.
I'm so fucking happy. I was still kind of getting to used to the idea that I really was alone when I organized my closet, which gave me such a serotonin boost (or however the scientists would describe it) that I honestly have not felt this good since Frankie & I left CMR, which was a few weeks more than an entire year ago.
So, yeah, I feel really really good today.
That's nice.

Jul. 1st, 2025 05:27 pm1. Go to T-Mobile and return my wireless router, which worked great until I moved to the middle of the desert, where it just can't catch a signal no matter how hard it tries. I wasn't sure how long this might take, so I placed a Walmart pickup order to save time.
2. Go to Teriyaki Madness and buy two bowls. One to eat there, one to eat later. Except I couldn't finish the one to eat there, so I have more than one full bowl to eat later!
3. Collect my Walmart pickup order.
4. On the way home, stop at DVJ.
All four goals were accomplished, but two moments of communication frustration did make the day more annoying than it could have been without them.
The first one happened around departure. Joey had suggested we leave around noon. Normally, what happens is he picks me up right outside my building a few minutes after the time he suggested. Today, like a complete moron, I WENT OUTSIDE IN THE HEAT to wait for him a few minutes after noon. When he hadn't shown up by 12:07, I texted him. He said he would meet me outside the "chow hall," which I inferred to mean the EDR even though I have never heard anyone call it that before. Mildly annoyed that he didn't mention this detail to me until I texted him because I thought he was running late to pick me up, but okay, of course I can walk over to the EDR.
When I get to the EDR parking lot, his Jeep is nowhere in sight. It's fucking hot, so I walk over to one of the benches under the misters and texted him again. After a few minutes he did park in the EDR parking lot. He didn't mention his communication fuck-up. I didn't either, since he was doing me a huge favor by driving me to Pahrump and back, but oh my fucking what the fuck?
The second one happened at T-Mobile. Full disclosure, I had eaten two gummies earlier (two gummies = 40 mg), so I was maybe a little bit extra impatient to get what I thought should have been a fairly quick transaction over with already. When I got the router, that store had one employee and one trainee who was so new that he couldn't do anything but watch. But the one full employee balanced my transaction and another customer's at the same time and I was very pleased the whole thing had been resolved so quickly.
Today, for some reason, the employee who helped me return the router asked me if I had already canceled the service. I said I hadn't and asked if we could do that there. In retrospect I probably should have called customer service before today, if only to confirm that I would be allowed to return the router to this particular store. I didn't, because I figured that canceling the service would be fairly simple. Either the employee who processed the return would automatically cancel the service as part of the return, or I would have to contact customer service sometime before my next bill. Both options sound as reasonable as they are simple, right? Right?
Apparently not. Apparently, canceling the service required the employee in front of me to call a number on my behalf. Apparently, the employee who answered that call advised that I would need to call customer service myself. The employee in front of me did not like this, for some reason, so instead of wrapping everything up and letting me go she asked me to wait there while she talked to her manager. She was gone for at least fifteen minutes, and in that time I received a text message and an email that said, "We have received your device, you are good to go, call this number or open this link if you have any questions."
After waiting a few more minutes, I fold up the receipt she printed for me and slide it into my bag, then put my phone in my pocket and walk out because I don't fucking care if one T-Mobile employee thinks it isn't protocol for another T-Mobile employee to tell me to call customer service to cancel my home internet and needs to consult her manager about it for fifteen minutes and counting, even though I have a paper receipt and a text message and an email that say my device has been returned.
So I walk to Teriyaki Madness, place my order, and sit down. This takes about ten minutes. When I get out my phone to text Joey, I see that I have a missed call from an unknown number. Fortunately my phone automatically transcribes voicemails, so I didn't actually have to listen to this genius say that she was unable to cancel the line due to me leaving the store, and could I please call her back because blah blah blah---
For half a second I seriously considered listening to the voicemail and then calling her back, and/or texting her to say I have a paper receipt and a text message and an email, so I don't know what else needs to happen here.
But then that half a second passes, and I just . . . open the text message, click on the number, and call customer service myself to explain the confusion and get confirmation that returning the device has indeed canceled the service. This call took six minutes, which is nine minutes less than fifteen, which as you may recall is how long I waited for what's her face to hold me hostage while she talked to her manager because another employee told her to tell me to call customer service.
So yeah, that's fifteen minutes of life that I'll never get back, bitch.
My phone & my Kindle can both usually connect and stay connected most of the time. (I’m writing this on my phone.)
However.
Almost every time I open my laptop to write a DreamWidth post, it refuses to connect. Sometimes it will let me connect later, sometimes keeping it turned on is pointless because it just refuses to connect to the fucking network.
So that’s fun.
What To Watch Next
Jun. 24th, 2025 10:55 ama) watching all of Doctor Twelve’s adventures again
b) watching all of Doctor Twelve’s adventures again, and then Eleven and then Ten and then Nine
c) going back to “Rose” and watching Series 1 through 10 in that order
UPDATE: I was somewhat torn between option a) & option c). So I watched “Rose” the other night, and just now I watched “Deep Breath,” and - big surprise, not - it’s no contest. I mean, sure, Nine & Rose are fun, but Twelve is my second-favorite Doctor and Clara is one of my favorite characters in the entire show. So yeah, I finished their first episode and immediately started downloading more. I’m pretty fucking excited, I love this era so much.
When I feel like watching something other than Doctor Who, there’s always Gilmore Girls. When I had a hotel room to myself in Vegas last week, I ate some gummies and watched slash listened to a few episodes from season three, and even though I’ve seen season three so many times, it was blowing my mind how funny the show still is.
And of course there’s always Buffy. The other day my Buffy t-shirt arrived, so I downloaded the first episode and watched it after work. I’m not necessarily planning to watch more than the first episode at this time, since I am very busy with Doctor Who, but a day or so later, DisneyPlus sent me a notification. Because I watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer, they think I’ll enjoy Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. This amuses me for two reasons. One, Star Wars is just okay, and DisneyPlus oughta know I think so based on my viewing habits. Two, I don’t know anything about this particular Star Wars series, but what in a Hellmouth far far away is its connection to Buffy? They’re both . . . action shows? One is fantasy and one is sci-fi? I might be thinking about it too much, but that makes sense: I’m stoned.
I might try to be a bit more productive, but as of right now my only plans for the rest of the day involve getting stone’d, watching Doctor Who, maybe watching something other than Doctor Who, and probably taking a nap at some point.
P.S. Yesterday I went to the ice cream parlor for the first time in a while and ordered a milkshake for the first time ever. It was so fucking good.
Quick Notes
Jun. 15th, 2025 11:58 pmToday was pretty great for a few reasons. The most exciting of them is: I checked the schedule, and a new one had been posted, and it says I have Thursday off IN ADDITION TO my usual Tuesday & Wednesday. I did not ask for a three-day weekend, but I’ll fucking take it!
I’ve been rewatching the Thirteen era of Doctor Who (note: what a huge surprise that her cameo right before Fifteen’s regeneration would make me want to watch all of her adventures again). My next episode will be the Series 12 finale, so after that I will only have like ten episodes until Thirteen’s era is over.
I’m not sure what to watch next. Probably, but not definitely, more Doctor Who. It would be nice to watch something else for a second, though. Oh, a few days ago I did finish rewatching Derry Girls for the nth time. So it’s not like I have been completely obsessed with Doctor Who. Just, you know, quite a bit obsessed. But not completely, that is the point.
One more Doctor Who thing: I did order the Fifteen & Ruby dolls a few days ago.
Oh, here’s something else that would be good to watch soon: ENCANTO! A week or so ago I listened to the soundtrack again for the first time in a while, and have listened to it again several times between then and now. It’s so damn good.
Today was also great because I picked up two pakidges from the post office. One was a bag with thirteen face masks (for skincare, not the other kind). The other one was also in a bag. My new work pants! They fit great even though they are a smaller size than I ordered! They’re just barely loose enough that I figured I should wear a belt just in case. Turns out if I didn’t wear the belt loose enough that it might as well not be there, it felt uncomfortably tight.
- Previous episodes have been available for download at like 1:00 AM on Saturday, so I looked for the finale that early. Then kept looking because it kept not being there. Eventually I googled it and saw that this episode wouldn't be available until I was at work. I think it did actually appear shortly before I had to go to work, but the point is that the official DW yootoob account posted a short with the title, "SPOILERS! Watch the moment we said goodbye to the Fifteenth Doctor and hello to... #DoctorWho" before I had time to watch the episode.
- In retrospect, I should have blocked the official DW yootoob account a few weeks ago, when they posted a clip whose title spoiled Mrs Flood's identity before I was able to watch episode six.
- Yes, he really regenerated. I'm very sad about it because he was one of my favorite Doctors (probably my second-favorite, honestly - Eleven will always be my absolute favorite) and I wish he had stuck around longer, especially since his seasons were only eight fucking episodes each. Let's see, he first appeared in the third 60th Anniversary Special, then he was in the 2023 Christmas special, then eight episodes of season one, then the 2024 Christmas special, then eight episodes of season two, and THAT'S IT. He officially has the shortest tenure of any Doctor other than Nine. He never even fought any Daleks.
- That said, the season two finale is instantly one of my favorite episodes of the entire show since it came back in 2005. (Someday I might watch some of the classic series, but for now I've only seen the revival.) I need to watch it again ASAP.
- I'm not sure why they're being released in August instead of, say, December of 2023, but doll versions of Fifteen & Ruby are coming soon! I might actually buy them, but they make me wish I had a real home so I could display them forever. But yeah, the more I think about it, the more I should maybe definitely buy them now when they're easy to find and reasonably priced. Even if I do have to keep them boxed for several years, I will be glad I have them at all because I love the characters that much.
Work has been especially difficult this week because the AC in the kitchen hasn't been working properly for at least the past three days. I think it's usually too hot in there even when the AC is "working properly," but OBVIOUSLY it sucks out loud when we're in Death FUCKING Valley and outside is cooler than inside. I don't have to work with actual fire like some of the cooks, but I do work with a huge metal machine that blows out a bunch of steam every time I use it.
So yeah, I have been drinking lots of water and taking lots of breaks.
When we're at work we can order free food for our meal breaks, but the menu is limited. I've had the chicken tenders, cheeseburger, and chicken quesadilla many many many times. Tonight I finally tried the green salad with chicken, and it was so fucking good. I'm definitely gonna order it again soon, and next time I might ask if I can also take a small bowl of soup to go with it. Or maybe even get them to wrap it up in a tortilla? That would be great.
I have multiple pakidges on the way. All stuff I actually need. The first one should arrive on Wednesday. I still have so much more stuff I need to buy to make my half of the room as comfortable as it possibly can be. And then when I do have every single thing I need, I want to keep it so organized that I can easily find anything in the dark.

Definitely want to download a few more things before the power outage starts, but I’m not sure what.
UPDATE: Even though I just finished re-watching it a few days ago, I have downloaded the first two seasons of Castlevania. After that, I remembered that I should also download some Derry Girls! If storage space allows, I might also add some Hazbin Hotel to this little library.
I have been pretty depressed lately. Which means I can either sleep for fourteen hours or zero hours, or anywhere in between those extremes, whenever I'm not working. Last night it was zero, but last night was My Friday, so it's whatever.
It's not even 10:00 AM on My Saturday, and I have already
* washed, dried, folded, and stored two loads of laundry
* cleaned the shower, the toilet, and the floor behind the toilet
* walked to the EDR for a disappointing breakfast. They should always have hard-boiled eggs in the cold bar, at least one fresh loaf of bread, mustard, and mayonnaise. Plus salt & pepper. And ideally, hot sauce. That's all I'm sayinggg
* walked to the general store to buy some snacks
* masturbated
* at some point I ate some gummies and they are working right now
* listened to the second-most recent episode of Max & Tina's podcast
One thing I've been thinking about a lot is how all of the reasons my life is so hard right now can be traced back to the extreme poverty. In another few checks I will officially have more money than I've ever had before in my entire life (that reminds me, I need to get that paper check and use Venmo to cash it), which is obviously a great feeling, but I'm also very anxious that I will accidentally get fired and kicked out and be homeless in the middle of the desert (note: I do actually know that if they fire me they will at least drop me off at the Vegas airport) and I need to avoid getting fired and save A Lot More Money.
How much more, exactly? I'm not sure. The thing is, as much as I would kill to be able to move back to my old apartment building in El Cajon sooner than later, it might be smarter to stay here for at least three or four years (possibly even until Trump 2.0 is over?) and continue saving as much money as possible. I mean, heh, obviously living in the middle of the desert isn't exactly an ideal situation, but this place really is worth it just because the cost of living is so low that I actually can save most of my earnings. That will emphatically not be the case when I start paying real-world rent again.
But I am feeling a strong compulsion to make my half of the dorm significantly more comfortable. Which involves a lot of buying things. Like a snack cart to use as a nightstand. And more laundry. And a laundry basket. And a small shelf for all the new towels. And tons of snacks, please, sooner than later. And an extension cord so my charger hub can reach the nightstand. What I'm saying is, there are quite a few things I actually "need" to buy. Like a back-up fan! And back-up work shoes! And more peanut butter!
Also, whenever the nightstand arrives, I might switch beds. (We have a third one because they had to evacuate people after a recent-ish flood, but Ben & I have jokingly agreed that if they ever gave us a permanent third roommate we would have to kill them because there just isn't enough space for more than two people in this room.) I haven't made up my mind yet. I could always try it out for a night and see how I feel then.
So far I have only been using my new Kindle to watch stuff, but I have also downloaded a few books that I could be reading right now . . .
Last night I Googled "where is tory mcphail now" and a recent article says he's gonna be in Florida soon. I'm not stupid enough to think there's a chance that CMR would take me back, but if they did of course I would probably decline if he was still there. Sigh, typing that one sentence made me think about how many people I would kill to have the chance to work with Chunk again. Don't think about it. Distract yourself.
What teevee have I been into lately? Doctor Who, of course! The finale is a few days from now, and my excitement is strong. A few weeks ago I started a B99 re-watch, but after a few episodes of season four I decided to take a break and re-watch Castlevania. Today I might eat two more gummies and watch a movie. We'll see. Speaking of movies, I recently watched Black Widow again. Definitely one of my top MCU faves, despite some problematic elements, such as the fact that I will never forgive them for killing Natasha. I want to see Thunderbolts*, but I can wait until it's on DisneyPlus. I might ask Joey to drive us to either Pahrump or Vegas to see Fantastic Four in a theater?
Silver Linings
May. 11th, 2025 05:07 amMore snacks will be delivered in a few days.
I finally ordered a Kindle! (I have had one before, but not since like 2022.) It was on sale. I got it and my favorite case for less than $130.
Speaking of money, payday is almost here.
Fucking Hex Yes
May. 3rd, 2025 12:54 amI worked alone tonight - not because anyone called out or left early or anything, but because Angel just left, so we’re down to three dishwashers. I’m working alone for the rest of the week.
Yes, I was there until 11:32 tonight. Yes, I chose to walk home rather than bother FLS. It’s only half an hour of walking, which really isn’t that big of a deal.
I love working alone so much that I don’t fucking care how late I am there. In fact, I would be happy to get a little overtime.
I am pretty sure I forgot at least one pot in the big sink, but oh fucking well.
Some of My Favorite Things
Apr. 29th, 2025 08:00 pmSong: "Defying Gravity," duh. Specifically, the Idina & Kristin version from the original cast album because, you know, I've been listening to it since I was sixteen. But I love this song whenever I hear it. Obviously, Cynthia & Ariana fucking crush it in the movie. Beau Dermott's performance on Britian's Got Talent gives me chills every time I watch it. And so on. I love this song, okay?
Food: The most honest answer is whatever food(s) I'm craving most at any given moment, but the actual favorite food ever answer is the spicy chicken from Teriyaki Madness in Seattle. I think there was at least one other location, but I only ever went to the one in Capitol Hill. A block or two from Safeway. If I could teleport, I would still go to this specific restaurant at least two or three times a week.
Power Rangers (All-Time Top Three): Obviously, my top three are the first three girls. Trini, Kimberly, Aisha. If I had to pick one of them as my number one favorite Power Ranger ever, it would be difficult to choose between Trini & Aisha.
Charmed One: Piper is my immediate favorite and remains in that position for the first three seasons (although Prue and Phoebe both have their moments - for example, Phoebe is a total badass in the season one finale), but as soon as Paige arrives in the season four premiere she becomes my favorite and continues to be my favorite character in the whole show for the rest of the series.
So yeah, that answers that.
Marvel Comic That Isn't An X-Book: Runaways
DC Characters (All-Time Top Three): Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy
I know DC has a lot of awesome characters, but those three immediately jumped into my mind. Immediately.
Breakfast Cereals (All-Time Top Three): oh my holy what now, this is hard
Honey Nut Cheerios, Honey Bunches of Oats, and Cocoa Puffs
The past two weekends, I have been in the passenger seat while he drove to Pahrump, then Vegas, then back home and an impromptu trip to Pahrump and back (which I probably would have no-thanks-ed if he hadn’t said we could stop at the dispensary on the way).
Shortly after I arrived at work today, he asked what I’m doing Tuesday. Because he wanted me to be the passenger again while he drove all the way to Vegas so someone can look at his new car.
I said, “Sure, that might be fun” - which he apparently heard as something much more enthusiastic, because after I technically said yes he gave me more details about the trip. Specifically, there were two details that stood out to me:
1. Be ready to leave at 6:30 AM.
2. Bring a day bag just in case they need to look at his car overnight and we have to get a hotel.
If I hadn’t been feeling groggy in a just-getting-started-at-work sort of way, and if he hadn’t sounded so excited about the whole thing, I would have shot him down as soon as he said to be ready to leave at 6:30 AM on My Saturday. I’m sorry, what?
Well, Damn
Apr. 25th, 2025 12:27 amWhen I clocked out at 10:40, of course I knew there would be a wait. I had just missed the 10:30 shuttle, so the next one wouldn’t leave the EDR until 11:15. With this in mind, I was in no hurry, so I walked to The Gulch so I could sit down at their stone picnic table while I waited for the shuttle. Driving from the EDR to The Gulch usually takes about five or six minutes. After ten minutes, I wasn’t totally sure what to do about it but was totally sure that I had somehow missed the last shuttle of the night.
At 11:28 I called the front desk (note: I’m fairly certain this is the front desk of The Ranch, not The Inn) and explained that the shuttle had not shown up. I was kind of thinking they could use their radio to track down the shuttle driver, but the front desk guy said “I’ll call FLS for you” and then hung up without asking me to identify myself or confirming my location. I wasn’t 100% certain that FLS would actually show up to give me a ride, but was 100% certain that if I had known the shuttle wasn’t gonna show up I could have walked home by now.
Anyway, yeah, FLS did pick me up as I was walking home, hooray. And they did confirm that I had done the right thing by calling the front desk, but also assured me that in this situation I could have called them myself. So that’s good to know.
But, gosh, the whole thing could have been avoided if I worked at The Ranch, which is maybe a seven-minute walk from my dorm room. And that’s only if I walk real slow. (I could also move to The Gulch to be a short walk away from where I work, but then I would have to live with a new roommate and would no longer be a short walk away from the warehouse and the ice cream parlor.)
