Le Gasp!

I just checked HasbroPulse dot-com to see if Rita Repulsa's ship date had moved up, and uh, it sure had. Previously October 1st (and therefore an obvious Happy Birthday To Me gift), now August second . . .

. . . which, honestly, is five days before the check I'd like it to be after, but WHO CARES? For only $44, they're going to ship her directly to my door! And I can still wait until my birthday to open her, if I want. I will factor it into my budget.

Diamond Select Invisible Woman still has a release date of My Actual Birthday, but I guess I should try to pre-order her sooner than later, just in case. Yeah, I think either August 7th or August 22nd will be my goal to get paid and make that happen. Of course, I will keep checking on her until I do actually place the order. She looks so cool that she might get to hang out with some of my other favorite action figures. Mohawk Storm, Psylocke, FiguArts Sailor Jupiter, FiguArts Harley Quinn, Toph Beifong, Monica Rambeau, and that's just the ones I already have in my room, waiting for the perfect shelf space to appear.

Actually, now that I think about it, who should Sue hang out with? Monica, Carol, She-Hulk, Storm? Because Carol and Monica, also Kamala?

Oooh, here's a thought. Since I want multiple Sues, one of them can hang out with Wonder Girl! Not that they have anything in common, other than me wanting figures of both. And hair color, I guess.

Anyway, the point is, Rita has been pre-ordered, Sue needs to be pre-ordered soon, and I need to shut up and eat something now.

Okay, so I expanded my Friday Funday budget A LOT and ordered ten of these. Honestly, I was prepared to order twelve For Science!, but the limit is ten.

I got them on Monday, and there were only nine in the box. I took some photos to try to prove that they messed up . . . for no reason, because as it turns out, all I had to do was chat with a bot and a replacement was ordered! Turned out to be my third double character, so here's a quick list of my collection so far:
  1. Purple Hippie Bunny*
  2. Other Hippie Bunny
  3. Tiger*
  4. Poodle*
  5. Panda
  6. Jaguar
  7. Cow
*Double

So I just need Black Bunny, Basketball Goat, CRUELLA, Black Cat, and Pink Cat. Lori pointed out that if I find them in a store I could buy them, keep the receipts, and return the doubles. Would I have thought of this myself? Maybe, but probably not.

Obviously, Cruella is my most wanted of the remaining five. Then Black Cat, then Black Bunny & Basketball Goat are tied, then Pink Cat. But I really want Pink Cat, too! I want all twelve, goddammit. Heh.

While I do not regret spending $100 on toys, I am kind of thinking that maybe this week's only Friday Funday purchase should be my ticket to Barbie.

Speaking of! I must order some weed ASAP; in fact, I should take care of that as soon as I finish this sentence.

Okay, great! I got a full-gram cartridge and two bags of Terp Chews to smuggle into the theater. I love how easy it is to place your order after hours and get ten percent off. Plus, I had enough points to knock off another $7 and change, so I did. And I already have a $20 in my pocket to contribute to this purchase!

Toys are still the only reason I have any interest in my upcoming birthday, and I've been shopping for them so much lately that I keep stumbling upon things I totally want even though I didn't know they existed. Today it was a Hercules set of Doorables (release date August first), which I will buy just for the muses, but actually, $20 for five figures is kind of a lot. Not that I wouldn't display the other four or anything, but I don't care about them as much as the muses. I would have liked it if they also made The Fates, Pegasus, Pain & Panic, Phil, Meg, and even Baby Hercules. But they never ask me. If they did, they would make AT LEAST two Little Mermaid sets. And they could be really big sets, too: Ariel, all six of her sisters, Triton, Flounder, Sebastian, Scuttle, Ursula, Flotsam, Jetsam, Grimsby, Carlotta, Chef Louis, Vanessa, maybe even a few more? What I'm saying is, I would buy them all. Yes, even though I already have an Ursula in the Villains set. That's at least eighteen characters, and I would buy them all. I would also buy characters from the animated series or the sequel (the third movie, not so much - I try to ignore its existence). But no, Disney doesn't want my money, I guess.

Except I have recently given them so much money for Doorables. Heh. Mostly they were on sale, but still, these toys are clearly earning my money with or without any Little Mermaid sets. No matter how much I want them. Which is a lot.
ryanreacts: (Default)
Jessica Jones
Black Widow (love them both!)
Carol Danvers
Monica Rambeau
Kamala Khan
Nico Minoru and all the rest of the Runaways . . . except Molly, who is a mutant. Heh.
Wanda Maximoff (sometimes she has been counted as a mutant, and I personally feel like her brother "should" be, but come on, do I love her so much because she might or might not be Magneto's daughter or BECAUSE SHE'S A WITCH?)
Agatha Harkness
Invisible Woman
Spider-Girl (Mayday Parker)
all of the Strange Academy kids
SHE-HULK
Patsy Walker, aka Hellcat!
Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew) (although I do have fond memories of reading a few issues of Mattie Franklin's short-lived series as a kid, and she's cool too) (but a big part of my love for Jess is because she is Carol's BFF)
Shuri
Okoye
Nakia
Rocket & Groot
Ironheart
America Chavez
Sam Wilson, especially when Marvel lets him be Captain America
the entire cast of the six-issue Spellbinders series, even though as far as I know none of them have ever appeared again since then
Thor
the Spider-Verse movies are really making me love Gwen, and I already loved
Miles Morales
obviously I do love Peter Parker as well, even though I have already listed like half a dozen other Spider-People including his daughter
Kate Bishop
Squirrel Girl
Daisy Johnson
Agent May
Bobbi & Hunter
FitzSimmons
Peggy fucking Carter!
probably a few more I can't think of right now - Marvel has kind of a lot of characters, n'est pas?

ryanreacts: (Default)
Invisible Woman has always been one of my favorite non-mutant Marvel characters even though I am not exactly a huge Fantastic Four fan. Her force field powers are so damn cool that I have a goal to collect multiple action figures of her eventually. Like, probably at least six. This is still one of my most wanted, but today I was and still am thrilled by the discovery of this one from Diamond Select, whose release date is my actual birthday!

Sue is the last of the four to get turned into a Diamond Select figure. Johnny and Ben are both cool enough that I could potentially spend money on them at some point, which doesn't surprise, but what does surprise is that SO IS REED. He is usually the least interesting member of the Four for me, even though some artists draw him to be very very hot. Well, this toy was sculpted to be very very hot, but that's not why I am actually thinking about buying him. Look at that photo of him using his powers. That is significantly more interesting than the usual stretchy arms, and I may or may not display him in that form all the time, but it is definitely the reason I will order him sooner or later.

I've always known my multiple Sues would need at least one version of her three teammates, and this is definitely the Reed for my shelf.

Littlest Pet Shop
Obviously it didn't happen this week because I got distracted, but I still like the idea of spending $24 on a random assortment of twelve.

MIXLINGS SERIES TWOOOOOO
Somehow, I still haven't bought any of these! Except for the four-pack. As soon as I get my storage bench, I need to order approximately ten of these. And then ten more later, and another ten some other time, and maybe even one more ten? I'm not sure how many, but a lot. I guess I'd like to get around thirty between now and then so I can open them all on my birthday.

Doorables
These tiny toys are so damn cute that I will probably always want "more" of them. At the moment I think I have most of the complete sets I want (although, obviously they should release at least two Little Mermaid sets, right??!!), so the next time I spend money on these it will be a few of the 5/6/7-packs. Which, again, I might open on my actual birthday.

Marvel Legends Generation X - ! ! ! ! !
Monet randomly appeared on my Amazon homepage last night, and I gasped out loud, because I love her and love Generation X. Unfortunately, it looks like Chamber is the only other character they have made so far. Of course I will get him as well, but that's only two! If they really want my money, they could also make Jubilee, Husk, Penance, Skin, Synch, Mondo, Banshee, Emma, Emplate, Artie, Leech, Adrienne, and I guess that's pretty much it. But see, that is way more than two! DON'T YOU WANT MY MONEY, DISNEY??!!

Pokemon Select Evolution 3-Packs

Okay, yes, the only one I "Really" Wanted has made me want them all. There's also a (cheaper) Cubone & Marowak 2-pack. I haven't found an Eevee set, but if they made one with every single Eeveelution I would buy that too, even though it would probably cost $100 or more.

President Barbie
She was not a Prime Days deal. I checked. She's still $50. So is Gloria, and the RC car is a few dollars more. Which isn't necessarily surprising, since prices are more likely to go down after the movie has been released, but I really don't want to wait that long. I might have to spend $155 on my most wanted of many pieces of merch from this movie. I also want more than two Blonde Barbies and at least one Ken, but they are lower priority even though some of them are cheaper.

Monster High

I have been distracted by other toys for kind of a long time now, but of course I do still want most of G3! Especially:
  • Playsets! Coffin Bean, Clawdeen's Bedroom, Clawdeen's Studio (with doll!), Student Lounge
  • Amped Up Frankie
  • basically every Clawdeen
  • all four Creepover dolls (including, yes, Clawdeen)
  • Goreganizer Draculaura (who is technically not G3 but whatever)
  • some, but definitely not all, of Skulltimate

Q Posket WinxFate
Today I want them in this order: Bloom, Aisha, Stella. And Musa is still a firm "only if I have already acquired all four of the other four" maybe.

Power Rangers
  • NEED TO PRE-ORDER RITA REPULSA ASAP
  • Pink Ninja Ranger (Kimberly)
  • Yellow & Pink Metallic Armor Rangers
  • all of the Super7 "Ultimates" figures, when I can afford to splurge
  • ZORD ASCENSION PROJECT MEGAZORD, both Astro and Dino (speaking of "when I can afford to splurge") and I hope they make more!
  • Zedd, Goldar, Sphinx, Finster, Scorpina, Eye Guy, Pudgy Pig, etc
  • Kat & Kat with Cat (WHY IS THIS SO EXPENSIVE?!)

The actual purchase part of Friday Funday was delayed because my bank app was down for maintenance and I couldn't check my balance for an hour. (Technically I "could" have made the purchase ~without~ checking my balance, especially since I had successfully checked my balance earlier this evening, but I just don't like to spend so much money on fucking toys without checking it first. It feels dangerous or something.) But eventually I was able to order a bunch of NaNaNa!Surprise!Minis!, which are currently estimated to be delivered on Monday. I am beside myself with excitement and a little disappointed to have to wait until Monday, but on the other hoof, hey, a reason to look forward to Monday.

The day after Monday is Tuesday, which will be a big deal this week, even after this particular Monday, because it's the new delivery estimate for the Monica Rambeau action figure I pre-ordered less than ten days ago!

One of the many toys I purchased because of Prime Days deals was this Pokemon Select Evolution 3-Pack. Bulbasaur is easily my favorite Pokemon, so I was annoyed that this set is at least $35 when the Squirtle, Charmander, and Pikachu sets are only $25. Obviously I was fucking thrilled when the only set I Really Wanted finally dropped to the normal price, and now that it's actually here I am even more thrilled, because all three figures are shiny! It's subtle enough to be difficult to capture in a photo, but still somehow just perfect. Love love love it! In fact, I love it so much that I'm almost wanting to order the other three sets as well . . .

Oh, I know I talked about them two paragraphs ago, but Lizzy York and I are both seriously excited that she will be getting some friends in just a few days. I can definitely afford to order at least two green & white shelves (plus multiple tiny toy spice shelves!) soon, possibly as soon as Next Check, which is only one week away, but definitely Check After Next at the very latest. And then I can build those shelves and start opening so many of these toys, especially all of the Doorables sets and Lizzy's new friends. And, um, Lizzy! Heh. Almost forgot.

One of my most crucial ideas for The Perfect Desk is a set of statues representing the four elements (Ursula, Poison Ivy, Maleficent, Storm), but also, you know, they could be represented by the Q Posket WinxFate figures as well. And Katara, Toph, Zuko & Azula, Aang, etc. And maybe even more examples. I am more than slightly fond of the elements, duh.

Different Elements, but the Meet the Mane Six figures should also live somewhere on The Perfect Desk. I should really order those soon. Actually, I might have ordered them tonight, if not for the sudden interest in NaNaNa's. Frustration-Free Packaging = $17. Absolutely perfect Friday Funday purchase very very soon, for sure.

Another very very soon thing is the Kimberly version of the Pink Ninja Ranger figure. And of course I still need to pre-order Rita. So that's actually two more ways I plan to sacrifice my hard-earned money sooner than later.

Lizzy York needs some friends!

I haven't had my Friday Funday Toy Purchase tradition for very long, but the general rule is that I can buy whatever I want as long as it's $40 or less, but closer to $30 would be even better.

But these adorable little weirdos just released, and they're only $10 each, which means that I am seriously contemplating the possibility of expanding my budget and ordering as many as six or even eight as soon as I clock out on Friday evening, which will be in approximately twenty hours, I guess.

Anyway. Of course I would like to get all twelve, but the point of this post is that I want them in this order:
  1. Purple Hippie Bunny
  2. Other Hippie Bunny (not sure if those ears are yellow or lime green, but either way)
  3. Tiger
  4. Cruella
  5. Poodle in a Poodle Skirt!
  6. Cow
  7. Black Cat
  8. Pink Cat
  9. Black Bunny
  10. Basketball Goat
  11. Leopard
  12. Panda

Series 1 is currently at least $13 each, so I won't be buying them any time soon, but I shall rank them anyway, For Science!
  1. BLACK CAT
  2. Tiger
  3. Pink Cat
  4. Blue Bunny (who needs a name that will not make me want ice cream!)
  5. Fluttershy Bunny
  6. Black Sheep!
  7. Fox
  8. Unicorn
  9. I can't tell what kind of animal the boy-coded one in the green outfit is
  10. another mystery animal: wavy brown hair, white ears
  11. Teddy Bear
  12. yet another unidentified animal: long straight strawberry pink hair

Actually, I'm not totally sure about this one. Teddy Bear surely should have been higher than eleven of twelve, yes? Maybe as high as eight or even seven, yes? I don't know, but again, it doesn't matter right now for reasons of limited funds to spend on toys I don't need and can't open until I get shelves for them! On that note, I will have to check my balance and determine how much I want to have left over by next payday and really truly figure out if I can justify spending sixty or eighty! dollars on these right now. Because seriously, how fucking often do I ever all of a sudden get interested in a line of mini dolls I have kind of known about for a while right before a new series is released? HOW FUCKING OFTEN?

ryanreacts: (Default)
I just got Terra, who was by far my most wanted, for about $18.

I want the others in this order: Bloom/Aisha, Stella, Musa?

These are their current prices on Amazon:

BLOOM: $24
AISHA: $30, shipped from Asia, estimated arrival July 28-August 11
STELLA: They don't know her
MUSA: $18

I don't really need them badly enough to shop around, but Walmart.com has everyone except Bloom for less than $17. Musa is a little more than she would be on Amazon, but I really am not even sure if I will bother to spend any money on her at all.

So, yeah, I might get more of them sooner than later. Maybe.

What

Jul. 10th, 2023 08:47 am
ryanreacts: (Default)
I can barely believe that this really happened even though it just did, but . . . I actually woke up early on a Monday morning and did a load of laundry? And now that it's over, I still have about three hours until my first alarm?

While the end of a weekend is obviously bittersweet at best, this one is less painful than normal. Partly because I'm excited about the prospect of a whole work week with almost zero need to go to the grocery store. But also, I have MULTIPLE PAKIDGES, which as of this writing are scheduled to arrive between tonight and Wednesday. And then, of course, there is the delightful possibility of Prime Days, which I have been looking forward to for a while. Plus, you know, I had almost forgotten what it even feels like to have a phone that charges like it's no big deal and doesn't need to charge all the time!

I currently have 22 things checked out from the library (only three away from the limit!), but I'll be returning four as soon as I get to work and have a minute to cross the street. Returning is always good, but especially right now, because I have three holds that will expire if I don't check them out today.

Even though I just picked up a 24-pack of Doorables, even though I have four more sets on the way . . . I am also tempted to spend $24 on 12 random LPS. I haven't bought LPS in at least a year, and I love them so dang much, but with all the money I spent on toys yesterday I probably shouldn't spent any more until I clock out on Friday evening.

ryanreacts: (Default)
This morning my body woke me up for bathroom time at the obscenely early hour of approximately 8:30, and I remember thinking that if the T-Mobile store opened earlier I might as well head over now, but they don't open until 11:00, so I went back to bed until after that. I don't remember exactly what time I woke up for real, but as soon as I did I walked over there and waited a bit until someone was available to sell me my new phone, and I was out of there by 1:15.

The very first thing I did with my new phone was log in to the Food4Less website and place my big grocery delivery order. Also, since I was walking past Del Taco anyway, I treated myself to some fries. Then my groceries were delivered by 2:50, and after getting them all put away I took a shower . . . and then saw a message that my new BOX FAN had been delivered!

After the sun goes down I will walk to 7-Eleven to collect my Amazon purchases (Doorables & body essentials), and once I do that I will finally stop thinking about it and actually order everything currently in my cart.

My grocery order was not quite totally perfect. I forgot to get mouthwash or hydrogen peroxide. But, apart from grabbing those and and a few other essentials such as more beverages, I should be able to do almost zero food shopping this entire work week.

Will I spend anything on the actual Prime Days event? Or will Doorables and other toys be the only deals I find? If I really don't find any deals on any furniture, I'm still going to order The Perfect Desk . . . soon. Either "right away" soon or "Next Check" soon. If it does turn out to be a wait until next payday situation, I might also order my storage bench at the same time.

Even with toy spending depleting my available moneys, I think I am pretty much on track to purchase almost every single thing my room actually Needs by my birthday! So I guess that counts as one more reason to try to get excited about this birthday. I'll be able to sit at The Perfect Desk when I open Rita Repulsa, Doorables Birthday Countdown, random assortment of LPS, however many Mixlings, etc.

Tasks

Jul. 9th, 2023 12:03 am
ryanreacts: (Default)
Today is Sunday, which means only two things matter: Walking to the T-Mobile store and getting a new phone, and placing a big grocery order for delivery.

Once all of that is paid for, I think I will go ahead and buy everything in my Amazon cart, as well.

In My Cart

Jul. 8th, 2023 01:15 pm
ryanreacts: (Default)
For less than seventy dollars, I could purchase four of my most wanted Doorables sets
  • Olaf Presents
  • Stitch
  • Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
  • Birthday Countdown

Plus, Na Na Na Surprise Minis Lizzy York.

Even if I don't add three random friends for Lizzy, which would still make my pre-tax total about one dollar less than one hundred, that is quite a lot of major-want toys for relatively little money.

Something that's not actually in my cart at this exact second is The Perfect Desk, which I will either order during Prime Days or after. Current price is $180, but there's a $10 coupon. Words fail to convey my excitement about this desk, but: I know exactly where I am going to put all fifteen Circle of Three books, and that makes me happy. And of course I'll also use some of that space for multiple tiny toy spice shelves, so that whenever I type anything I can look at Doorables and Mixlings and Cloudees and LPS and MLP, oh em gee, it'll be beYOND~

It only just occurred to me in the last two or three nights that the desk won't be truly perfect without a desk lamp, and this one looks perfect excellent because it's adjustable and has two charging ports. Actually, it would really be perfect if it was white, as  that would match the desk and the display shelves on that wall, so maybe I'll keep looking . . .

A Few Hours Later: Oh snap! I could get four sets of Doorables, Lizzy York, a set of Gelly Roll pens, and a legit Trapper Keeper for slightly less than $100 before tax. I'll make myself think about it for at least two hours or so, but it's very very very appealing and I am tempted to complete the purchase right now. But no, must ponder.

ryanreacts: (Default)
Well, I checked YouLoveIt, and MGAE is trying to come for my money in multiple ways!

Na Na Na Surprise Fuzzy Surprise - I think I've been aware of this line since it started, and in all that time I have never really truly been tempted to sacrifice any of my money to it . . . until now! The description says, "Peel away the flocking material to reveal the surprise fashions underneath," which gives me a minuscule amount of pause, because I think the animal pajamas are cuter than the "actual" fashions, but still, these are somehow cute enough that I might have to get all six? I'm honestly almost annoyed by how much I suddenly want a bunch of toys I didn't know existed as recently as a few hours ago. Not that this is a new sensation. Heh. I love the fact that all six of them have glasses, even if the purple cat's are stupid. I'm not even sure if I could rank them, because I honestly want ALL SIX. Dammit.

Rainbow High New Friends
- There are three of these and I am planning to spend money on two. Lilac Lane has accessories which indicate that Chemistry is one of her favorite subjects, and I love every single thing about her except for her shoes, which will need to be replaced because heels are not appropriate lab attire. Blu Brooks would be a potential purchase for her shoes alone. Her accessories include a skateboard and a cast, because apparently she broke her wrist. I love everything about her, including the dark red lips against all that bright blue. Plus the bits of black. The only one I don't need is Pinky Paige. I like her glasses and her plushie. End of list. Her makeup and purse are cute too, but I hate her dress and, well, she comes with a selfie stick. If I got the doll (who IS cute), she might as well be nude on eBay, because I would have to find her a whole new outfit.

Na Na Na Surprise Minis Series 2 - These are cute enough that I checked out Series 1, who are so cute that I am tempted to spend money right the fuck NOW. Just not sure if it should be $10 each for x random ones, or $20 for Lizzy York, who comes with an actual mini backpack that is also a "bedroom" (actually just part of the wall) display set.that holds four of them if need to use it for storage or transport.

Shadow High - I've had my eye on Rosie Redwood for a while, but SCARLET ROSE IS PERFECTION. Literally, I might pre-order her on Amazon. That is how perfect she is. Oh my holy what now.

ryanreacts: (Default)
My end-of-week gift to myself was a 24-pack of Doorables, reduced from $40 to less than $22 AFTER all taxes & fees.

I just spent almost $40 on some essentials (hemp cream, anti-chafe balm, vitamins). Having a body is annoying and expensive.

Tomorrow or Sunday I will spend close to $200 on enough groceries to do zero shopping until next weekend.

My most wanted Prime Days Maybe Deals are pretty much what you would expect. The Perfect Desk, comfortable chair for The Perfect Desk, area rug for the chair, folding kitchen shelves, kitchen cart, desktop computer, fancy blender, storage bench. Of course I will also check out the display shelves I have my gay heart set on, but they're pretty affordable already.

When I bought my weekly present, I was and still am tempted by other deals on Doorables, such as . . .

Snow White and all seven dwarfs for less than $9, reduced from $17
Bundle: Olaf Presents & Stitch sets - usually almost $40, currently less than $30
Multi Peek Series 5 - $8.50 for 5 OR 6 OR 7 figures (I am specifically interested in S5 because some of the possibilities are all three fairies and both stepsisters)
$6.50 (usually $11) for Movie Moments, which of course I really like. Two figures AND a scene/tiny playset in a stackable display cube? Come on. These could be a dangerous way to spend a lot of money in a short amount of time!
Birthday Countdown Calendar - 14 figures (including two from TURNING RED, Young Tiana, and is that fucking Vidia?!) for $13
I don't ~super~ want the 50th Anniversary Collector Set, but $16 is certainly better than $19 for twelve figures

I haven't bought any Across the Spider-Verse action figures yet, and unfortunately my most wanted (Hobie Brown, aka Spider-Punk) keeps going out of stock. I would have said keeps "going in and out," but he's mostly out. Next time he's in stock, if he's $30 or less, I should just order him right away.

If nothing my room Needs is on sale, I might look around for toys that aren't Doorables.

I just pre-ordered MONICA RAMBEAU on Amazon. They don't seem to have RITA REPULSA, so I'll have to pre-order her from Hasbro Pulse ASAP. She is actually the reason I should get the Doorables Birthday Countdown Calendar. If she really does ship on the first, she'll probably arrive on or before my actual birthday on the fourth. And toys are the only reason I'm even somewhat excited about this birthday. Heh.

Oh shit, the prospect of saving them to open on my birthday could so easily justify purchasing so many Doorables while they're on sale, oh shiiiiiiiiiit

Whether or not they are on sale, these are some of the toys I might spend money on as my weekly reward for surviving a whole week of stupid sometime sooner than later:
DCSG Teen to Super Life Supergirl (Current Price: $37)
Pink Ninja Ranger - Kimberly ($17)
FiguArts Captain Marvel ($50)
The Marvels: Kamala and Carol ($25 each, same as Monica)
5 Surprise Mini Fashion 2-pack ($10)
This Storm ($45) (I already have a variant who looks exactly like this one except that her outfit is black)
~I really want the Kat & Kat with Cat two-pack, but because I didn't buy it back when it was affordable, it is currently obscenely expensive on Amazon and I don't need it badly enough to shop around at this time~
Appa Pillow Pet ($24 - ooooh, that is a sale, he's usually $35)
Ariel and Sisters Small Doll Set ($34)
The Loyal Subjects: Sokka with his bag ($15), Aang with Momo ($9), others?
Q Posket Terra ($18)
MLP Meet the Mane 6 ($27)
Mirrorverse Maleficent ($20), Hook ($20), and Belle ($13)
Aisha Vs Scorpina ($24)
PRESIDENT BARBIE ($50)
Storm E. Sky and Cool Cat ($15)

And, someday, maybe I'll spend money on Monster High again. I still want like 80% of all of G3, but obviously I'm distracted by other toys at the moment. Basically itching to order more Doorables as I type.

It is fortunate that I still have so many library comics to choose from, even after returning eight, because today was full of minor annoyances and at least two people who really pissed me off. The first was this guy sitting outside the Mexican restaurant listening to music WITHOUT headphones and WITH a speaker. I admit that listening to anything without headphones in a public space is something that really really really annoys me, but adding the speaker is extra rude. I approached him and started by asking, "Do you have headphones?" He didn't, but did immediately turn it down a notch or two, but didn't really care about the nice warning I tried to give him. He was gone when I checked again fifteen minutes later, which is good, because I was seriously so annoyed that I wanted to slash his tires or pour water on his speaker or steal his bike or something. People are extra annoying when it's this hot outside.

WHICH BRINGS ME TO this whole situation. I was tossing some paper towels in the recyclable dumpster outside Postal Annex when I noticed that a truck parked in one of the spots over there kept honking its horn every five seconds or so . . . because some stupid fucking idiot was just sitting there in her car, between the truck and the alley, either unaware or just uncaring that she was blocking his path. I decided to help out and try to get through to her, so I walked over. I did not tap on the door or wave or do anything to get her attention, so maybe she did hear the honking, but for the rest of her interaction with me she never really made it clear that she was actually aware that the truck was there.

Anyway, she rolled down her window and asked, "What do you want?"

"Are you coming or going?" I pointed to the truck. "You're blocking him in."

I don't remember precisely what she said, but it was something about FedEx. She had to call them to complain that one of their trucks had almost hit her. (They do make deliveries to Postal Annex every day, and sometimes they back into the alley; while I am inclined to doubt that a truck actually almost hit her, she was in the correct vicinity.) (Although, if any other vehicle really did almost hit her, I have to ask: Is it because she was just sitting there instead of fucking driving?!) She also asked if I'm Security and claimed that she does the same sort of work, but she runs her own business.

WHAT does any of this have to do with anything? The only fucking reason I said anything to you, the only fucking reason the truck has been honking at you, is that you are PARKED in the STREET. I mean, the alley is not like an actual street, but she was just sitting there, neither accelerating nor reversing nor making any sort of movement at all, mere feet away from multiple actual parking spaces.

The guy in the truck, by the way, is the manager or owner or whatever (I don't know, he's never said anything interesting to me) of Postal Annex. Who, in response to all the crazy that poured out of this woman's mouth, decided to APOLOGIZE TO HER, which is fucking hilarious, because he could have gotten out of his stupid truck and tried to reason with her his own damn self or pulled up behind her and gotten even more obnoxious with his horn or done anything other than the incessant honking that obviously wasn't fucking working.

But no, he fucking apologized to the crazy rude idiot and thanked me and drove away.

THEN. Even fucking though she had been sitting there with her car FACING the alley, which any rational driver would guess meant she intended to drive into the alley, what she actually did was turn around to drive into the main parking lot. I stuck around to make sure she wasn't going to do anything even crazier, so once she got her car turned all the way around I was kind of sort of in her path . . . so she gestured for me to get out of her way, and SHE IS FUCKING LUCKY that I did not say, "Oh, so it's only okay when YOU block OTHER PEOPLE from driving?"

And then slash all four of her tires.

She's fucking lucky.

In general I'm not a fan of living in a police state, but sometimes I do wish there was an app that would let me take photos of people who park like assholes and anonymously submit them. And then, when the police get the photos, they can do two things: One, confirm that this is something they can fine the asshole for. Two, use the license plate to find their address and send them a copy of the photo . . . and a ticket that they have to pay if they want to keep their license! Quadruple the fine if they do the exact same thing ever again!

Because seriously, it is SO easy to be a decent human being. People who choose to go out of their way to be jerks deserve punishment. I do not get paid enough for this nonsense.

Comics!

I thought it might be fun to jot down a few thoughts about some of the library comics I have read this weekend. I'm too lazy to list all of the artists, so I'll link to the books on Amazon to keep it simple.

X-Men (2021) Volumes One and Two - I picked this up knowing almost nothing about it other than the lineup, but it is so much fun that I am impatient for Volume Three! Cyclops & Jean are co-leaders of a team that also includes Sunfire, Polaris, Rogue, Wolverine (Laura!), and SYNCH. Yes, Synch. Everett from Generation X. I used to fucking love Generation X, and Ev has gotten a lot more powerful since then. Also, I love Polaris and she looks fan-fucking-tastic.

Captain Marvel Volume Nine, Revenge of the Brood Part 1 -  Almost the end of Kelly Thompson's run as writer, but there's no time to think about how bittersweet that is, because this story is so much fun! Carol, her best friend Spider-Woman, and her mentee Hazmat team up with a few X-Men: Psylocke, Polaris, Wolverine (Laura again!), and Gambit.

These two have really made me want more good Polaris stories. Maybe I'll re-read the Leah Williams run of X-Factor sometime soon.

Wonder Woman
Volume Eight, Dark Gods - As the title implies, this is fucking awesome.

Nubia & the Amazons - You know, with my library having so many comics to choose from, and everything they don't have being readily available online, it is pretty dang rare for me to borrow something from the library and think, "I want to buy my own copy of this." Well, that is what happened when I read this.

Wonder Girl: Homecoming - I am not sure if I fully understood every little facet of this story, but I don't care, I loved it anyway. Yara Flor is awesome, and I loved seeing Cassie and Artemis team up when their paths crossed because they were both tasked with finding her.

Catwoman: Lonely City - Okay, this story is amazing anyway (it's about a fifty-five-year-old Selina fucking shit up; what more do you need to know?!), but taken to a whole other level when you realize that it was written AND drawn AND lettered AND colored by Cliff Chiang.

Oh, and I can't forget The Indispensable Calvin and Hobbes. I can pick up the next book tomorrow.

Sadly, none of these are high-priority purchases at the moment, but I do WANT them all . . .

PRE-ORDERS
  • Release Date September 1st: Monica Rambeau, aka Marvel's Photon from The Marvels! I have been wanting a Monica figure since WandaVision, so this is a huge deal. (Obviously I also want Carol and Kamala from this line, but Monica is the only one I need to preorder.)
  • October 1st: Lightning Collection Rita Repulsa! Oh my fucking gawd, she looks so good. I don't even fucking know how long I have wanted a Rita figure that looks this good, but it has definitely been more than long enough for $34 to feel like a bargain. Don't tell Hasbro I said that!

Rainbow High Dream and Design Studio Playset - This comes with a very cute Skyler doll, but I will either (find something else for her to wear and) display her elsewhere or stick her in storage, because I want the studio for RARITY, of course. I don't have the perfect Rarity doll right now, but I will find one at some point and she shall have the studio! Also, she should have the Deluxe Fashion Closet as well. Fortunately I already have the Avery doll who comes with lots of extra clothes and a rack to hang them on, so whatever she isn't wearing will also go to Rarity. Oh yes, I shall display her in such a way that she looks very busy and important, because she is.

Rainbow High has a lot of dolls I would buy if I had unlimited toy money, but right now the one I'm most interested in is Rosie Redwood.

Disney Villains 3-Pack of dolls, which I shall be buying for Yzma.

DCSG Teen To Super Life Supergirl - Possibly the best Kara doll I have ever seen? As much as I fucking adore the character, I usually find her superhero outfits to be a little meh. But oh, this doll! Mine will spend all of her time in her jacket, ripped red jeans, and either red stompy boots or red sneakers. If her jacket opens her "S" will be visible, which I think is the way to do it. Like Wonder Girl or Superboy. Shirt with logo, jeans or other comfortable pants, reliable shoes, optional jacket. NO CAPES. Obviously if anyone deserves to wear a cape it's someone who is related to Superman, but I still don't like them. Batman's makes sense, and Storm can pull them off, but most of the time I think they look stupid and I'm glad to see Kara without one. Anyway, yeah, I like this doll a lot.

Ninja Rangers - I need Kim (who has currently dropped to $17). I might get Billy. If I get Billy, I might get Adam. If I get Billy and Adam, I might get Rocky. Tommy is currently ridonkulously overpriced, and my least favorite of all seven of these characters, so I'm not even thinking about spending money on him at the moment.

Aisha vs Scorpina 2-Pack - I already have Aisha, but obviously I will need Scorpina to help me welcome Rita! Those are the two I'm most excited about, but I need as many Evil Space Aliens and Monsters of the Week as I can afford.

Lots of LEGOs - Flowers, Little Mermaid set, Sanctum Sanctorum, etc

Doorables - If I suddenly became rich, I would seriously spend like $300 on these right away . . .

Wonder Girl - I prefer the outfit she wears in season two of Young Justice (she's my favorite character because she clearly loves being a superhero), but since she is unlikely to get turned into an action figure, this one will do

ATLA/Korra Figures - I already have a Toph who I love, but I really need at least one version of almost every character who has been turned into a figure. For example, look at this Sokka, who comes with his bag!

SH FiguArts: Captain Marvel, Sailor Venus, Thee Suicide Squad Harley, etc

Mixlings
- The money I could have spent on these has instead gone to Doorables and Power Rangers, but I got a few in the Lori Box I looked through yesterday! Can't wait to display them, plus the ones I already have, on some of these.

  2. Cannabis Plus Comics
  3. Cannabis Plus Buffy, Will & Grace, Gilmore Girls, etc

Amazon sent me an email about The Perfect Desk. Which is now available in a fifth color, Grey. I like it a lot, but still think I prefer White since it will match the shelves I want.
