They're only 5" tall, but still (actually, now that I type it out like that, Aang should be shorter than Zuko or Azula and WAY shorter than Ozai, which might bug me enough that I don't even want this four-pack after all, in which case there are other Avatar 'verse figures I could get . . .)

As of right now, these are the library comics I have in my room:

Captain Marvel Vol. 9: Revenge of the Brood, Part 1
Strange Academy Vol. 2: Bright Side
Strange Academy Vol. 3: Wish-craft
Justice League Dark Vol. 1: In the Dark
The Indispensable Calvin and Hobbes (I am saving this for the weekend because that is the best time to read these books)
W.I.T.C.H. Part I, The Twelve Portals Vol. 1, 2, and 3 (I'm reading Vol. 1 very slowly, but might be ready to return it before the weekend)
All-New X-Men Vol. 6: Ultimate Adventure
Black Widow Vol. 1: SHIELD's Most Wanted
Wonder Woman: Tempest Tossed
X-Men (2021) Vol. 1 and 2
Marvels X
Catwoman: Lonely City
Catwoman Vol. 1: Dangerous Liaisons
Nubia & the Amazons
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (apparently this is going to be adapted into one of the many movies already announced for DC's new "We Want Our Own MCU So Bad" initiative, and I am interested)
Uncanny X-Men: Disassembled
Wonder Girl: Homecoming (fuck yeah)
Wonder Woman Vol. 8: The Dark Gods

Plus I have other stuff waiting to be checked out, including more W.I.T.C.H. and Calvin & Hobbes. So that's all very exciting.

I DO need to get some beverages from Food4Less on my way to work tomorrow. And maybe more snacks, even though I have an unopened bag of cranberries and a mostly full jar of peanuts in the barn.

This fucking week seriously fucking feels like it is lasting as long as it fucking can.

Last night as I was getting ready for sleep, I pondered the possibility of swapping Display Wall and Kitchen Wall . . . which I quickly realized would be pretty stupid. The whole point of this remodel I'm planning is to maximize the very limited space in this tiny tiny room. With this in mind, my idea to devote every inch of Display Wall that is not taken up by my desk to multiple cases of SHELVES is brilliant. Swapping this with my plans for Kitchen Wall would make no sense because the door opens into the wall that will be a kitchen, meaning I would have way less room for shelves (unless I started using the window as a door). Plus, Display Wall already has the teevee mounted to it. Why would I want to keep my slow cooker so close to that? What if the heat melted its wires or something? NO THANK YOU.

This morning I had to talk myself out of ordering another Genie action figure because the price dropped a few dollars so it was less than ten. But the seller wouldn't deliver to my usual locker, which made it much easier to remind myself that I must not spend any more toy money until I clock out on Friday, especially since I just spent slightly more than one hundred dollars on a pair of boots that have not even been delivered yet.

They should be delivered tomorrow, though. "By 10PM," it says, meaning unlikely but possible that they might be delivered in time for me to wear them to work tomorrow, but even if that doesn't happen I will get to wear them on Friday.

I need to figure out what I want from the pot shop and place my order ASAP. You get a discount if you order when they're closed. Looks like they only have half-grams available from my brand, though, so deciding could take a second.

If I really do watch Buffy tonight, it will likely be "Chosen," "The Gift," "Hush," "Doppelgangland," or "Bad Girls." Last night I watched a few episodes from the fifth season of Schitt's Creek, which I might do again tonight, because even though I've seen every single episode of this show I still died laughing at multiple things.

Anyway, I'm hungry, so I will pick something to watch for at least as long as it takes me to eat.

I really, really, ~really~  wish I could stay home to

GET STONED
&
WATCH BUFFY

Two of my very favorite things in the history of ever, even better together!

But alas—

Three full days until I can do that!

When Saturday finally arrives, I think I might walk to Del Taco and back before I start watching.

I can order more cannabis tomorrow, and on Friday evening I’ll be sure I have plenty of beverages in the fridge to go with my Del Taco. And some sort of fruit, because I am craving approximately half a dozen of them.

It would also be fun to watch a movie this weekend, but there is literally no point in even attempting to decide right now.

And, of course, I’ll have plenty of library comics to keep me entertained! Including but not limited to Calvin and Hobbes, W.I.T.C.H., Black Widow, Captain Marvel, X-Men, Catwoman, and Wonder Girl! I might just watch as little as two or three episodes of Buffy, then switch to Gilmore Girls and lower the volume and just read for hours.

Soooo, after rent and T-Mobile Auto Pay and the toys I've already purchased and the boots I ordered today, I'm going to have less than $400 until Next Check.

I'm annoyed about the boots, but it's a self-inflicted annoyance, because I knew this was coming and did nothing. I knew my boots were cheap because this is the second time I've bought this exact pair since April, and when I bought them a second time I thought I should invest in some boots made from more quality materials and told myself to check places like the Goodwill across the street from the trolley station at work, but the thing is I just hate in-person shopping so goshdamn much that I . . . didn't do it. And now my cheap boots are starting to fall apart, as I knew they would, so I ordered a pair of Doc Martens from Amazon. They were less than $111 INCLUDING all taxes & fees, which is significantly less than I thought I might have to pay, so hooves fucking crossed that they fit right and feel good!

Anyway. Next Check is a week and a few days away. I will treat myself to at least one new toy as soon as I clock out on Friday, and of course I have to feed myself, but overall I'll try to be rather frugal. Even with weed. I already have $40 set aside to put toward my next purchase. I'm going to need at least one new full-gram vape for this weekend. I just checked, and T-Mobile is the only bill that will pay itself right now. Hulu, Netflix, and Prime are all due after Next Check! That is helpful.

I don't want to write it down, but I would like to have a certain amount left over to add to Next Check so that even after withdrawing $400 for rent I will have quite a bit of money available on Prime Days. I think I can do it. Maybe.

In conclusion, I want more toys.

Tuesday

Tuesday is so blergh. Obviously the worst day of the week has ended and that's technically reason to celebrate . . . but once today is over I will still have three full days until the weekend. On the other hand, Tuesday means a new episode of Buffy the Gilmore Slayer! For a few more weeks --- they're almost done.

I have two new toys waiting for me to pick them up! The Doorables Villains set (reduced from $22 to $16.30) and Mirrorverse Genie ($9).

If I ever make it to Friday evening, my "congratulations, you survived yet another week of stupid" gift to myself might be another Doorables set and Mirrorverse Belle. Or two Doorables sets. Or one of the Pink Ninja Rangers. Or some sort of Zord. Or Mirrorverse Maleficent and some Magic Mixlings (and a bag of M&Ms, just kidding). I don't know, there are too many choices and four days feels like a really long time.

On that note! I realize that my last check was on Thursday and only four full days have passed between then and now. I am very aware of how often I get paid. I understand how time works. And yet! July 7th is NEXT FRIDAY, and waiting that long until I get paid again makes my heart hurt. I know that weekly paydays are smaller, but if I had a choice that is what I would choose. Twice a month will never be enough.

I just realized that today is exactly two weeks until the beginning of Prime Days! Still not getting my hopes up, but I did make a whole list of things that I would like to buy then if they do get discounted.

I DO NOT need to go to Food4Less on my way to work today, because I have at least four drinks already in the barn (only one is actually taking up space in the tiny fridge, the others are waiting their turn on the shelf) and I have snacks in my backpack. I will need to get a few things on my way home, though, because I'm running low on hand soap.

In an effort to distract myself from how much I don't want to go to work, here is a quick list of things I might order as soon as I clock out on Friday:
  • Doorables Sets: Snow White, Stitch, Olaf Presents
  • WinxFate Q Posket Terra
  • Super7 Yellow Ranger or Goldar
  • some sort of Zord(s)
  • MLP Meet the Mane 6 Collection
  • Mirrorverse Belle or Maleficent (both would be about $34 . . .)
  • One or both Pink Ninja Rangers
ryanreacts: (Default)
This lilac hippo from Jellycat

If it was $25 like the Charmander/Charmeleon/Charizard set, I would order this sooner than later. Bulbasaur is my favorite Pokemon, and the only one I already have in toy form, so another one that also comes with Ivysaur and Venusaur would be quite welcome on my desk! I can never really get into Pokemon (someday I will watch the Detective Pikachu film again), but clearly some of them are very very cute.

Lalaloopsy: Storm E Sky & Cool Cat
At some point I'll get a few others from this line, but she is my most wanted for a reason.

Monster High Playsets in this order: Coffin Bean, Clawdeen Boo-Tique Studio (with doll!), Clawdeen Bedroom, Student Lounge

Monster High Actual Dolls: Every G3 Clawdeen, Goreganizer Draculaura, Amped Up Frankie, Frankie's Day Out, at least one of every G3 character, all four Creepover dolls, most but not all Skulltimate Secrets, second sig Frankie to keep in the box because I love them so much and they are ultimately the reason I want to spend so much money on this franchise, Great Scarrier Reef, Freakishly Tall Ghouls, others

Doorables Sets: Olaf Presents, Stitch, Snow White (I ordered the Villains last night because they decreased to $16.30 before tax!), any others

Barbie The Movie: PRESIDENT BARBIE, everything else

Across the Spider-Verse Non-Miles Figures: Gwen, Spider-Punk, Jessica, and of course I do want at least one Miles too, but I'm saying it should go without saying

FiguArts Captain Marvel, Sailor Venus, others

Mirrorverse Maleficent, Hook, Belle, Genie

MLP Meet the Mane 6 Set - I can't help being disappointed that they didn't give AJ her hat, but other than that all six figures look fantastic

Every single Super7 MMPR action figure they make, pretty much in this order:
Yellow Ranger (comes with a Trini head AND an Aisha head, which is so brilliant that whoever thought of it deserved a raise)
Goldar
Putty Patroller
Tyrannosaurus
the upcoming MADAME WOE, Tigerzord, and White Ranger
Green Ranger

Q Posket WinxFate Figures in this order: Aisha, Terra, Bloom, Stella, Musa (sadly, they will probably never make Flora or Beatrix)

Zord Ascension Project Dino Megazord, which is $170 and worth every penny
The Dragonzord is also worth that much, but I personally can live without it. However, once I get the Dino Megazord, at some point I must make another investment and get the Astro Megazord as well. If they make the Thunder Megazord I will definitely buy that too, or almost any Megazord from the Zordon Era. Or the Galaxy Megazord, I love that one.

Technically my weekend won't "really" end for another twelve hours, but it's coming to a close now, and as usual I am not thrilled about Monday, so in an effort to cheer myself up, here are a few other things to think about:

Once the trolley leaves Arnele Avenue, I will be allowed to spend up to $30 on some sort of toy(s). Right now I'm kind of leaning toward one of the Pink Ninja Rangers, but we'll see if that's what I decide when it's actually time to decide. I could also choose Doorables or Mixlings or Monster High or, well, literally anything that's thirty dollars or less.

I can return some things to the library and check out some things that are waiting for me, including the first two volumes of an adjectiveless X-Men comic that started last year and more W.I.T.C.H.

As annoying as it can be sometimes, I always like to remind myself that, when you think about it, this job does pay me to walk slash drive around while listening to music, podcasts, or stand-up comedy in one ear. If they just paid me as little as five more dollars an hour, it would be a pretty perfect job.

It always feels nice to take a break and sit down in the shade while I have a snack and a very cold drink.

It feels even nicer when the sun goes down.

This isn't exactly a cheery thought, but obviously I am very aware that every day of showing up for work leads to my next check being as big as possible. Which means I'll have more furniture money on Prime Days, yes?

The main thing I need to ~manifest~ in this section of the room is a kitchen cart, of course. The one I used to have my eye on has been unavailable for a while, so now my eye is on this one. I love the wheels, which will make it simple to keep the cart closer to the wall when not in use, but then when I do chop vegetables or cook eggs or whatever, before getting started I can roll the cart over so it's in front of the teevee! It can also function as a table when I'm ready to eat whatever I have made.

Of course, one cart cannot hold every single kitchen gadget or dish my heart might desire, so maybe I should get this smaller one as well. It is somehow more expensive than the big cart, but look how dang cute it is! Plus, again, wheels.

Now, this tiny cart would be utterly convenient for drying dishes. And since it has four hooks for mugs, the top shelf would be a logical place to keep my electric kettle. And coffee maker, if I get one of those.

Maybe I'll keep it simple and just get the big cart and this shelf, which can be unfolded & assembled right out of the box in just a few seconds. That is a huge fucking plus. Well, just the big cart and this and the tiny cart for my electric kettle.

At some point I need to invest in an electric kettle. Having one in the house will encourage me to drink more tea, which is but one of the many positive reasons to keep one in the house.

I'm not sure if this wall should get more white & green shelves or some storage carts or both. Even if I don't get the small cute cart, big cart + one simple shelf = probably not enough space, so I will need storage carts for sure. Which is great, because I love the one I have so much that I've always meant to get more.

I really really really need at least one blender, and I would prefer that it be a Vitamix, because they are powerful enough to make absolutely anything that can be blended, including soups and sauces. But then it might also make sense to have a smaller blender that I use for a daily smoothie.

Another essential gadget is a slow cooker. I used to have one of these many years ago, and its presence influenced me to make my own aloo gobi.

One thing I must have for my kitchen is a set of rose gold flatware. And a drawer organizer to store it in.

For literal years of my life, I have wanted these cereal bowls. I don't even know, I just love them more than words can say.

I'll need more than one set of chopsticks, of course.

I'm not sure what it should be, but my kitchen will have something to thank Hestia.

Obviously I should invest in some sort of hot plate, and at least one good frying pan, and some utensils to use in the pan . . . which I will keep in this.

I have a nice set of (free!) knives, and I'm partial to this cutting board because of its six color-coded mats to put between the actual food and the actual board.

I might be a little bit in love with this dish drying rack.

And I have several other ideas about things I could buy for the kitchen, but this pretty much covers the basics, and I told myself to finish this by midnight, which was six minutes ago.

ryanreacts: (Default)
The Perfect Desk is now available in a fourth color, black. I don't like it very much? Obviously I would take it if that was the only thing available, but it's not. I really like both of the browns ("rustic" and "walnut"), and white would match the shelves I'm planning to get. Speaking of! It has occurred to me that the cheap five-tier corner shelf I was thinking of doesn't make any sense. What I should do with this wall is devote every inch that's not taken up by the desk to white & green shelving units!

Speaking of furniture, I might actually buy some very soon. Amazon is having another "Prime Days" event starting on July 11th, just a few days after I get paid on the 7th. Obviously I won't get my hopes up or anything, but it really would be nice if I could get some sort of deal on, for example, the desk or the comfortable chair for the desk or the area rug to roll the chair around on or a kitchen cart or a blender or something else I really want for my room that's usually a pricey purchase. I'll put together a whole list of Maybe Deals and see what happens.

Whether or not I find a deal on anything I just mentioned or anything I didn't, a portion of my July 22nd paycheck will go to some sort of shelf. I'm not going to let myself open toys until I have a space to ~dedicate~ to displaying them, and in the last few days I have spent money on a doll, a blind bag tiny toy, a Megazord, and an action figure. That's four new toys since Friday, and I'm very excited about all of them but can't open any yet.

Hey, I wonder if there might be deals on even one Monster High playset? They'll all go on my list! Heh. Collecting is such a thrill. My room in general will be a thrill once I get most of the stuff I need to make it more productive and more comfortable. I think I have a realistic chance of being mostly done before my birthday, so that's exciting - because then I'll be able to devote more of my limited disposable income to MORE TOYS, heh heh heh.

I guess, of all the things I need for my room, these are my top ten priority purchases (in no particular order, but they're all top ten):
  1. THE PERFECT DESK, of course. In this exact moment I'm leaning toward white, but I do not have to choose a color right now.
  2. At least two white & green shelves. I haven't actually done the measuring yet, but I think I will have enough space for one 11-Cube and two (?) 5-Tiers.
  3. Comfortable chair for the perfect desk.
  4. Area rug to roll the chair around on.
  5. Storage bench.
  6. Kitchen cart.
  7. Blender!
  8. Cutting board(s) so I can use my fancy knives and functional mixing bowls and make things like fresh salads.
  9. Pentagram rug for the door, possibly the most important purchase of all.
  10. More lights.

Well, not really. I have purchased a few toys in the last few days, but they have all been cheap.

FOR EXAMPLE: Yesterday I went to Target to get a new pillow. I did not even look at any of the toy aisles, but I did walk past them . . . and just happen to notice that the Yellow Ninja Ranger action figure was on clearance! Less than eight dollars! Of course I took one off the shelf right away, and when I checked later I learned that she would have cost about twice as much on Amazon.

(Fun Fact: Aisha was the only one I really needed, but if I do decide to get any more of these figures, they made both Kim AND Kat, which is so cool that I kind of want to get them both! $21 for Kim, only $14 for Kat.)

Speaking of Amazon, though, I am planning to order something in the $20-$30 range on my way to work tomorrow.
Something like . . .

* Mirrorverse figures are pretty cheap at the moment! I could get both Belle and Genie for about $20.

* There are at least two non-Miles Across the Spider-Verse figures I must have. Currently, Spider-Gwen is $23 and Spider-Punk is $25. (Jessica Drew is $23, and I'll definitely get her at some point because she looks so cool . . . but I'm just a little annoyed that they didn't give her her bike. Did they see the film?)

* For just $22, less than $2 per figure, I could get the Doorables Villains set.

* Obviously, I might order one of those Pink Ninja Rangers I mentioned earlier. Only one, since this purchase is $30 max.

* This SABERTOOTH TIGER ZORD, oh my actual holy what now, it is beyond cool, wow. I just ordered a Megazord that I haven't even picked up yet, but still, there is a strong possibility of this one Zord being my next cheap gift to myself.

* Unfortunately but unsurprisingly, President Barbie is still $50. So I can't order her tomorrow, but can I stand to wait until her price decreases? I, um, I don't think I can, actually. I might even plan that fifty dollars into my budget before the movie opens!

* Technically this would be cheating by three dollars plus tax, but I could get two Doorables sets, Olaf Presents and Stitch, for $33.

More Money Math: Now that the sun is setting, I'm gonna go to the grocery store!

Oops

Laundry lasted longer than it needed to. What happened was, I had enough clothes to use two washing machines, so I got them going and set a timer . . . and only when that timer went off did I realize that I never pushed START on one of the machines, so it still needed twenty-five minutes.

So I can't go to the grocery store right away like I was thinking, because that time fuck-up drained my battery. After several minutes of charging, it's currently at forty-seven percent. In about an hour (?) or so, I will go to Food4Less and then Target.

I've decided to forego this grocery delivery I've been planning and just get it all myself to avoid the extra fees. Since I'm walking there and back and can only fit so much stuff in my backpack, it'll take a few trips, but totally worth it.

I really want Five Guys and slash or Del Taco. Maybe pizza. Maybe breakfast sandwiches at some point.

And I think I might order some Doorables tomorrow.
ryanreacts: (Default)
This is the wall that already has the gigantic teevee mounted to it, which is also the wall that will have my writing corner at one end. I have my eye on a two-pack of small black & white tapestries to hang next to the teevee and a DCSG poster that I'll probably put behind the teevee so I can see it from my desk.

Of course, it's called Display Wall because of the shelves. I really like these white and green ones, so I'll try to get two or even three, if I can fit that many, maybe in various sizes. For example, two 11-Cubes on either side of one 5-Tier. That would be a lot of space for so many books and toys and comics and statues and more books and more toys. If I have enough space I'll get even more shelves.

And, yep, that is pretty much it for this wall. Only wall left to plan is Kitchen Wall, and obviously I have too dang many ideas about that, so I'll save them for later.

Well

Jun. 24th, 2023 05:57 am
ryanreacts: (Default)
Despite the one hundred milligrams of THC in my system, I have not fallen asleep all night. It's three minutes 'til six, so I kind of feel like I might as well stay up and go do laundry shortly after they open in half an hour. If I do, I should be done by 8:00, so before it gets too terribly hot I could go to the grocery store. And Target!

Grocery deliveries are slightly annoying because I have to make multiple trips from my door to the front gate and back . . . and sometimes my idiot neighbors see stuff I haven't gotten to yet and pick things up to "take to the office" because they just cannot mind their own business, but it has occurred to me that if I empty my storage cart I can probably get everything in one trip.

So yeah, after carefully spending a certain amount of money on a certain amount of food this weekend, I will allow myself to order another Encanto doll. Wait, there's a "Deluxe" Doll Set that includes articulated versions of all three sisters and Antonio & three of his animal friends? That's good to know, but I'm not trying to spend $80 on dolls right now! Hmmm. I could get Dolores for $8, but she's also part of a family set that includes her parents and both brothers - yes, another Antonio. I also like the small doll Julieta's Kitchen playset, which is less than $12.

Laundromat opens in eleven minutes now, and my phone is at 66% even in Airplane Mode to help it charge faster. I'd really like to have it at 80 or higher before I leave the house. It's already jumped up to 68. So that shouldn't be a huge obstacle, I guess.
ryanreacts: (Default)
This space is currently a bit chaotic, but my goal is to clear it out and move my bed in there. Which should be perfect, since it will mean I can lie in bed and watch teevee without having to tilt my head to the right to see the screen properly.

In the corner between the head of my bed (heh) and the kitchen wall, I will keep this storage bench, which I used to have several years ago and fucking loved and still miss. Currently available in four colors. I like them all, but Soft Gray Fabric is out because $160??!! I think I want Soft Blue Fabric. Anyway, this bench will be another perfect vantage point for watching teevee (and as a bonus, it comes with two ottomans!) and storing extra blankets and pillows. I can also leave books here when I'm sleeping. And my glasses on top of the books.

My bed needs more pillows. I almost ordered another two-pack of the very comfortable memory foam pair I have now, but Amazon said it would take a week to deliver and I said let's think about it. I would also greatly benefit from a body pillow. And of course I want all five Little Mermaid Pillow Buddies. In this order: Ursula, Indira, Caspia, Ariel, Mala. Maybe Flounder. Maybe.
At some point, my bed could also use a Snuggie. I don't remember when I lost mine, but it was so so SO comfortable, and living without one is a damn shame.
Oh yes, my bed could also use these sheets. They look like they would make me happy to wake up to, you know?

Above where my bed will go, the alcove-closet has built-in wall-to-wall white wire shelves. I'm not sure if that's the right term, but the point is, even though you can easily store stuff on them without doing this, like I have been ever since I moved in, what I really want to do is get some cardboard or something flat & sturdy to cover the gaps between the . . . rods? . . . and make the shelves more convenient for, what else, display. Like I have a tiny mountain of Cutetitos that deserve a stable home that won't dig into their tummies when they lie on it. Some shelf space will also be needed for clothing, of course. Probably some witchy stuff. Toys I'm not going to open right away? Lots of space, lots of potential to help store everything I need or want in this tiny tiny room.

The corner between the foot of my bed and the display wall is an excellent, logical place for this basic but sturdy-enough five-tier corner shelf for extra dupersuper precious toys like Wonder Woman, Storm, Harley & Ivy, Barbie, Power Rangers, Sailor Moon, Captain Marvel, Supergirl, Jubilee, MH G1 Great Scarrier Reef (not quite everyone: I can easily live without Clawdeen & Laura. But, everyone else!), My Little Pony, ILY Disney, that sort of what.

Another great incentive to move my bed into the alcove: It has curtains! So I can get all snug as a rug bug in bed, then pull them closed and Just Fucking Sleep. Lavender oil, rain sounds, meditation, whatever it takes, I know that closing myself into a physical space that is just for sleeping will be very healthy. Also, I've always wanted a canopy bed and this is sort of like that.

I should have just enough space in the alcove for two small basic three-drawer dressers that I already have at each end of the bed. One of them already has a very bright lamp that I love, so the other one should get its own whenever I buy it.

ryanreacts: (Default)
I know "perfect" sounds hyperbolic when it's used to describe a desk that I didn't know existed fifteen minutes ago, but for serious, it hath done blown my mind! Gaze upon it. I like all three colors, so let's not even get into that right now, but oh my, the features.

The stand for the monitor, which creates a bit of storage space underneath it. Eventually I'd like to indulge myself and buy this 32-inch monitor.

Words UTTERLY FAIL to convey how goddamn much I love that slide-out keyboard tray (note: I need this particular mouse pad and this particular wireless keyboard) (other note: As I can afford them, I will occasionally buy more wireless keyboards. Because I just love the concept of a wireless keyboard so gosh dang much, and there are so many of them and most of them look cool as heckckckck, so yeah, might get at least three).

Between monitor & keyboard, there is enough space to work on a puzzle, maybe even two puzzles at one time, which would really help to distract me from hating everything I write, in theory.

That "left arm" (it's 42.5x11.8") could potentially be used as a table for eating, My klutzy clumsy self would have to be extra careful, but with the keyboard tray tucked in, and the monitor so far from the corner where I would set my food, it could actually be just fine all the time? I don't know. It's certainly possible, is all I'm saying.

Unless the base is, like, painted with something that cancels its magnetic properties (I don't know for sure if that's actually possible), I should be able to use it for magnets, which is much cool!

The headphone hook is most convenient, although it does remind me that I should replace my headphones. Sigh.

And finally, oh glory, oh golly, the shelves! There are FIVE of them. Top shelf would be Monster High, of course. And some Doorables, I shouldn't wonder. Maybe Mixlings as well. But the focus of the display on the top shelf would be MH. If I suddenly got rich I would instantly order almost all of G3, I swear. Every single playset I could find, that's for damn sure. The second shelf is less than ten inches tall, so too short for most fashion dolls, but plenty of space for several of my favorite action figures, statues, many kinds of tiny toys that are not even Doorables or Mixlings. The lower three shelves have somewhat limited display potential, but I'll use shelf number three for library comics (and book books, if I ever check out one of those again) and four & five for notebooks, coloring books, puzzles, cannabis, witchy stuff (other than cannabis), cable management, ???

This not-a-desk will go between the desk and the door. The top is a perfect place to plant my backpack, and the other end is good for the basket I carry back and forth to the bathroom. The empty floor space between shelves is ideal for my shoes and (with something between it and the bare floor) laundry basket.

And then it has six shelves of storage.
  1. Work clothes. Shirt, vest, and pants in a pile of neatly folded fabrics. Socks hanging off the edge of the shelf? Hand sanitizer, chapstick, and every single other thing I am going to need to have on my body when I leave home to go to my next shift. Except for my boots and my hat, which live elsewhere.
  2. Multiple packs of toilet paper and, ideally, reserves of bathroom staples, from razorblades to shampoo to toothpaste
  3. Towels
  4. Library comics and slash or books that I have actually purchased
  5. Cleaning products
  6. Witchy stuff
Plus, toys can hang out on all six shelves if they want!

The door itself is currently a 97% blank space with seriously limited function, but I should get something like this: Voila, mini pantry, just enough shelf space for some snacks to grab on my way out the door, NyQuil, Tylenol, hand sanitizer, other apothecary crap, those hooks are an excuse for some scarves I should buy as a gift to myself, electric candles, other witchy stuff, etc . . .

And, now that I'm thinking about it, the corner over the Monster High shelf could be used for two or three of those simple triangle shelves that basically snap in place. For Megazords, FiguArts, ATLA, DCSG, extra precious stuff like that.

Let's start with the simplest option: this one can be assembled with zero tools, and that charging station would certainly be useful. The built-in shelves are fun, and I could get a storage cart(s?) to go with it.

But then there's also this one, which has zero storage (again: storage carts!), but I do love the idea of my "writing corner" facing into an actual corner, and the adjustable height feature could be very good for me, so this one is definitely a possibility even though it is one of the most expensive choices.

Or this one! A bit of storage (I am annoyed that they don't have any pics with any of those four drawers opened), and I wouldn't need to think about what to do to keep my monitor at eye level because it's already done, plus they added holes for cables to go through. I love it.

But oh, look at this! Top shelf would be for paperbacks, with tiny toys hanging out on top of them. Second shelf could be more books/comics, OR could be more toys and slash or witchy stuff. And the weird under shelf? Puzzles, for sure, whenever I buy some. Library comics could sit there in one or more vertical stacks. More witchy stuff, probably. Lots of Doorables and Mixlings? Maybe.

And then I just discovered two more awesome options. This one is fucking adorable, I don't know, I love it at first sight for some reason. Those drawers would be great for keeping witchy stuff secret, then it also has four shelves of storage space. Speaking of storage shelves, this desk might be my new favorite, because where a more traditional desk might have drawers it has six storage shelves, and obviously the brilliant thing about that is that approximately three, if not more, of those six shelves could store stuff AND display some of my favorite dolls, action figures, or statues! Maybe even my one Charlie Bear? Gosh dang. Even if I do choose another desk, I should get this for display! Maybe. Or, oooh, right next to my door! Between the door and the desk. I could drop my backpack on top when I get home and leave my shoes (and laundry basket) in the empty space. One shelf for library comics, one shelf for notebooks, toys could hang out on every shelf, one shelf for toilet paper and other bathroom supplies, one portion of one shelf could be where my weed hangs out, etc.  The point is, it has a lot of potential and I really like it and I love toys.

EDIT TO ADD: Oh my fucking what, look at this. I just. I love so many things about this. I love the metal base and the riser for the monitor (which creates a little extra space to store something under it) and the slide-out keyboard panel and the goddamn fucking built-in shelves! It even comes with a place to hang a pair of headphones. This desk might be one of the most perfect desks I have ever contemplated.

I rewarded myself for surviving another week full of stupid by ordering the Mega Mighties Megazord. It was less than $19 including tax, so I feel great about that. Another cheap toy I bought yesterday night, who was somehow delivered this morning, is the Isabela Madrigal doll for $8.65. She is so gorgeous that I may have audibly gasped when I took the mailer off of her box. Will probably buy at least one more cheap Encanto doll VERY soon. It almost feels weird to know that I have spent $27 (plus another $7.42 on something that won't be here until Sunday even though I ordered it with Isabela) on toys that are not Monster High, when that money could have gone toward a playset or purchased one of the cheaper dolls and had a few dollars left over, but then, it also feels extremely natural that my exceptions are MMPR and Encanto. Perhaps I'll watch one or both of those this weekend. Maybe even, hmm, one after the other? Power Rangers, Encanto, more Power Rangers?

Obviously, I am VERY VERY VERY HAPPY about this weekend.

For several reasons! One of which is: The cannabis gummies I ordered yesterday as soon as I deposited my check. I'm eating one bag right now. Twenty-five doses (five gummies) every forty-five minutes. Just had my second dose. It's an Indica strain called Forbidden Fruit, and every inch of my brain is beyond thrilled about the imminent prospect of getting a night of cannabis-fueled sleep (with a little NyQuil just in case) and then wake up and decide which fun thing to do first.

These are all of the library comics I could read so I can return them so I can borrow more:
  • Marvels X, which I got for the Alex Ross art
  • Uncanny X-Men: Disassembled
  • DCSG: Ghosting
  • DCSG: Powerless
  • DCSG: Weird Science
  • Captain Marvel Vol. 9 - bittersweet, since Vol. 10 will be the conclusion of Thompson's run!
  • Strange Academy Vol. 2: Bright Side
  • Strange Academy Vol. 3: Wish-craft - sadly, this is the end of the series
  • Justice League Dark Vol. 1: In the Dark
  • The Authoritative Calvin and Hobbes
  • The Indispensable Calvin and Hobbes
  • W.I.T.C.H. The Graphic Novel Part I, The Twelve Portals, Vol. 1
  • All-New X-Men Vol. 6: Ultimate Adventure - haven't read the first five volumes, but I love this team (it's the Teen O5) and am excited about this story in particular because MILES
  • Black Widow: SHIELD's Most Wanted
  • Ariel and the Curse of the Sea Witches
  • The Variants: A Jessica Jones Mystery (this has a high chance of being the thing I read first)
  • Wonder Woman: Tempest Tossed

I have a meticulous grocery delivery order ready (?) to go, for which I give thanks because it will help be avoid spending too much on snacks when I am at work cuz Vons is more expensive than Food4Less, okay, but weekends are also a time to treat myself to a treat or two or maybe even more from a restaurant. I should avoid delivery because extra fees, but even if I am limited to places I walk past every day on my way to and from the trolley, I could eat at Del Taco, Five Guys, Dave's Hot Chicken, Jack in the Box (their breakfast biscuits are cheap & tasty), probably literally half a dozen Mexican restaurants including one El Pollo Loco, Little Caesar's, Panera, KFC question mark, and I'm not even sure what else. But that's quite a lot of interesting options already, clearly.

May or may not treat myself to another movie in the theater? Then again, maybe I'll just walk to (for example) Five Guys, which is technically part of the same mall as Regal Cinemas, but get my food to go, and bring it home, and watch a movie at home. This theater doesn't have recliners (they have stadium seating, which is fine, but fine is nowhere near as comfortable as recliners), and I couldn't smuggle in an entire hot meal, so the more I give this three and a half seconds of conscious thought, the more I think I should watch & eat at home.

One thing I've watched more than once in the last few weeks is the Buffy finale. I even took a video of the best scene and sent it to my sister and said it always makes me cry and she replied, "Wow, yeah, it made me cry with no context" (note: This would be an interesting clip to watch with no context, since it involves Buffy being taunted by First!Buffy, who looks exactly like her, down to the same outfit and matching mortal wounds). It is one of my favorite things to watch when I am stone'd. Sadly it's not on my yootoob playlist called "Still Blazin," but it should be. Some things that are on this playlist include . . .

"At the Winter Gala" (an MLP mash-up)

Ms Marvel trailer

Captain Marvel "Big Game" TV Spot (this is only thirty seconds, but it's such a rush that I've watched it hundreds of times in the handful of years since the movie came out)

The Marvels Teaser Trailer (to the great surprise of nobody, I am very excited to see Monica again! She has been my favorite MCU character since WandaVision. And obviously I love both Carol and Kamala quite a lot as well, so an entire film about all three of them? I haven't been this excited about the MCU since Wakanda Forever)

Yellowjackets Season 2 Trailer (I was and still am obsessed with this show, and it is honestly one of the best trailers I have ever seen)
Bonnie Bennett: Seven Nation Army (this starts with voice-over of four badass things she has said, including: "I don't belong to the spirits anymore. I belong to myself." Chills, every time. I love her so much. She deserved better, but when the writers let her do stuff she was fan fucking tastic)

Princess Rap Battle: Mrs Claus vs Mary Poppins

Buffy Season 7 Trailer (another one of the best trailers I have ever seen)

Buffy All You Wanted Legendado (this is a fan-made music video of Michelle Branch's "All You Wanted," which follows two storylines: Willow & Tara, and Buffy & Faith. I discovered it in high school, so the quality is not great, but in spite of that I have watched it so many times)

CHARMED 2018 Trailer ("You're better together, your differences are your strengths, and nothing is stronger than your sisterhood.)

When I was walking to the trolley this afternoon, CHARMED tried to make me cry. For some reason I had this brief mental flash of the time when Maggie was in danger, so Macy said "Get away from my sister!" and lashed out telekinetically. Which then also made me think of the moment in the very first episode when Jeremy shows up at the house to kill them all, and without even thinking about it Prue throws him back and says, "Piper, Phoebe, get outta here!" And I did start to get a little teary-eyed! And again just now, typing it up!

After last night I am really not in the mood to go to work today, but I’m also not in the mood to make my next check smaller, so I fucking guess I’ll go in. Remember, I tell myself, you are getting paid to walk slash drive around while listening to music or podcasts. And at least it’s Friday.
ryanreacts: (Default)
  1. Amped Up Frankie!
  2. Doorables: Villains, Olaf Presents, Stitch, etc . . .
  3. pretty much every G3 Clawdeen, especially the one who comes with a playset
  4. Purple Panic Christie (and Perfect Pink Teresa and Extreme Green Skipper and Cool Blue Barbie)
  5. Goreganizer Draculaura
  6. Coffin Bean Playset
  7. Clawdeen Bedroom Playset (and all four Creepover dolls!)
  8. G3 Toralei (and every Toralei)
  9. Little Mermaid LEGO Set
  10. lots, but not all, of Skulltimate Secrets

Oh snap, that was more than ten. Take my hard-earned money, Mattel. Heh.

  • PAYCHECK
  • Went to the library and picked up The Authoritative Calvin and Hobbes, The Variants: A Jessica Jones Mystery (written by Gail Simone!) (with art by Phil Noto!), and Ariel and the Curse of the Sea Witches
  • Bought two vapes and two bags of gummies
  • Ordered a clip-on flashlight to wear at work, which will allegedly be delivered before I leave for work, so I can pick it up on my way to the trolley
  • Planning to order some sort of toy(s) as soon as I clock out tomorrow. Only the second time, but I really love this new end-of-week tradition!
  • Seriously contemplating a bit of Del Taco this weekend. I haven't had their Queso Loaded Fries in over two months. Plus I also love their burritos, of course. And the menu probably has something new that sounds interesting . . .
  • Or I could go to Five Guys. Weekend before last was the first time I've gone there in I don't even know how long, probably at least a decade, and it was the best burger I've had in years. (Not that I eat burgers super often, though. And when I do they're usually Jack in the Box. But still.) Although, actually, if I do go back, another burger is almost not a necessity, because I really just want fries.
  • Del Taco's fries (Queso Loaded or not) are crinkle cut, though. They're REALLY good.

And now I must take a moment to gush about television.

Last night I opened Netflix intending to watch Gilmore Girls while I ate, and then lower the volume and continue to not-watch it while I read comics. None of that happened, because I was distracted by Glamorous, a new show starring Kim Catrall as a former supermodel and current CEO of a makeup company that she started by herself. The main character is Marco, an effeminate genderfucky twink who is obsessed with makeup. The core cast includes no less than three super cute gay men who have romantic and slash or sexual tension with Marco, plus two Black women with adorable tension. The outfits and rich people offices and their office drama remind me of Ugly Betty.

So yeah, I couldn't help but watch the first four episodes. There are only ten episodes total, so I'm not exactly in a hurry to watch another four tonight, but I can already tell this is a thing I will watch over and over and over. I won't hold my breath for this, but would appreciate it if Netflix could give them at least two more ten-episode seasons. Please?
